You know, rules are rules, but I do not think Johnson’s actions caused the ball to move. It didn’t, ultimately affect anything, but it very well could have. The game is so damn hard to begin with, without these crazy rulings. I guess if the wind had blown the ball into the hole, there would be a firestorm too. Still, assess the penalty then and tere, and move on.
Nicklaus stated during the broadcast that fairways today are as fast as greens were in his day. Fast greens, to whoever has played the game, are a nightmare.
OK, well let’s hope the cocaine and affairs with other players’ wives is behind him. Everybody screws up and if this stuff is truly behind him, then I’m glad. He sure played well and with steel nerves today.
