Gawker Is Bankrupt, And Now Liberals Are Pretending To Care About Free Speech
The Federalist ^ | 10 Jun, 2016 | David Harsanyi

So Gawker and its owner Nick Denton filed Chapter 11 today to avoid paying Hulk Hogan the $140 million they owe him after losing an invasion of privacy trial. The suit was funded by libertarian billionaire Peter Thiel, which, according to many liberals, makes this the most vital First Amendment case of our lifetime.

In a spasm of hypocrisy, many of the same people who don’t believe corporations deserve constitutional rights; who think allowing the state to ban political movies and books is a fine idea; who are constantly telling us how important the courts are in realizing a just society; who are in the pocket of the trial lawyer lobby; and who have achieved almost every major political victory through third-party-funded court battles (sometimes taxpayer-funded) now worry about slippery slopes because a libertarian has funded a successful lawsuit.

Take the illiberal New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, a proponent of censorship who is considering using racketeering charges against global warming skeptics. A government official who wants to punish people for thought crimes now has the temerity to talk about freedom of the press. Gawker, by the way, once favorably wrote about arresting climate change deniers. Unlike Michael Mann and Bill Nye and a bunch of AGs, there are those who believe political speech should be protected, and yet also that media organizations should not be immune from the law.

The left is only about the freedom to destroy. They want to restrict the freedom of others.

Before we cheer too much, Peter Thiel is on the guest list for the secret Bilderger meeting this week.

In a spasm of hypocrisy

For libtards it's all about the coercive power of the state to be able to operate in support of the ignorance, fears, or superstitions of any libtard individual or group.

That’s ok. I too am having a secret meeting with my friends this weekend, and we will have just as much impact as the Bilderbergers. Which is to say, none at all.

Hey thanks liberals...for proving to us time and time again how much more intelligent the founding fathers were than you to set up a government with one of the greatest gifts mankind has ever seen to deal with tyranny which you so obviously love - The Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Because of the freedom it gave us we became the most powerful country on Earth. And guess what? None of it would have ever happened without the intervention of the real almighty powerful God. Not the fake Allah god you guys seem to believe in but also say you're an atheist out of ther side of our mouth. Not that guy but the one who allowed Washington's army to escape the British across the Delaware River when fog rolled in so they could sneak up on the most powerful army in the history of the world atbthat time and defeat them. And I know you don't want to hear this but George Washington believed in God as did almost all of the other men in power at the time. The forged the cornerstone that made this country great that set us on the right track and gave men who and their families who had lived under tyranny for hundreds of years (sort of like the one that is forming now). Know what the cornerstone was? Yeah it was The Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

And now you tell us you want to install sharia law for diversity purposes because what worked so well for hundreds of years is an antique. The diversified type of law that will allow stoning and raping of women, cutting of hands for theft (maybe not so bad of and idea but all of Congress would become quadriplegics, that is if they just didn't line them up and chop off their heads), and throwing gays off of rooftops (hey again maybe not such a bad idea) as punishment.

Before you think it's a good idea to rip it up and install sharia law, us consevatives would like to give you a gift. A one way ticket to any middle eastern country with sharia law you desire. Live there for a year then get back to us.
