Daily Caller ^ | 06/04/2016 | John Griffing

Posted on 06/04/2016 8:10:45 AM PDT by Paine in the Neck

This week, Monckton — former adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher — pushed for Texas independence in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller.

In short, Monckton views Texas as a lifeboat. He believes that America is on the verge of being overrun with Islamic invaders which will be accompanied by “imminent” financial destruction.

I agree.

It needs its own banking system with a gold-backed currency.

And absolute financial privacy with no extradition treaties with the US or Europe.

And only a single tax: a 15% retail sales tax.

Think of it as a “safe space.” Safety from all of the federal micro (and macro) aggressions - and they are legion.

Funny you should mention this. I believe our Texas leaders are preparing for what they see is a national financial meltdown.

Texas legislature passed a bill creating a gold depository and bring back Texas gold held in NY. As far as Texas succession...I'm good with it.

Texas only needs to make the first move. The other States will jump to copy whatever success is shown by the Texas example. (I forget ... how many governors’ offices and state legislatures are controlled by Republicans?)

Obummer can make all the noise he wants but there is no way he would militarily move to quash such a rebellion. Hell, there would be questions about his response if China landed troops outside San Diego!

A Texas secession could quickly bring about a lot of good changes in the country.

Thanks much. I thought I had tested it before posting. Hazards of reading too many sites at once, I guess.

Here it is once more to make sure folks get it.

15% retail sales tax.

Too easy to drive over to Oklahoma (aka North Texas) or some other part of the U.S. for shopping like Canadians do in Buffalo. They actually have tour buses from Toronto for shopping trips to Buffalo.

Texas isnt going to do anything.

It isnt like the government there is made up of fearless cowboys. Look how many times the Feds just rolls over them. Far too many of the big shots just think that a western hat and a Texas drawl is good enough to cover for their weakness.

If they wanted to leave, then they would have by now.

Drudge has a story up about the DHS turning loose illegal Middle Eastern border crossers into the United States. Seems Obama is working at fever pitch to plant more destruction inside our borders.

And, in the Republican controlled Congress, the band plays on.

I don’t know why you felt the need to insult every Texas Freeper, but you just did.

If Texas secedes, how many states will follow? I’m guessing 15-20.

Texas as a “libertarian paradise”?? Bwahahaha! Sort of self-contradictory to the stated intent. If by “libertarian” one means “virtually no centralized government control” then how does one propose to control the ethnic or religious demographic, much less ideologies of the populace?
Does Lord Monckton know the state is already overrun with Muslims and illegal Latinos?

Probably he’s remembering that do-nothing call-up of the Texas National Guard for securing the border during the “border crisis” “news event” awhile back. (Remember the Glen Beck Teddy-Bear border-visit? Around then, IIRC.)
