HOUSTON - The Houston Police Department is investigating after an officer-involved shootout Sunday morning left two dead and several others injured, including multiple innocent bystanders, in the west side of town. Among the victims is Byron Wilson, 30, and Denise Slaughter, 59 and Eugene Linscomb, 57, who was shot to death inside a black Mercedes.
Investigators found a military-style backpack Monday at the Conoco gas station that caught fire after being hit by a halo of gunfire Sunday. The backpack contained bullets, a birth certificate and several other items. Police are working to confirm who the bag belongs to and how it got there.

The combat style backpack, inexplicably uncollected by the Houston Police Department Sunday, was found Monday, in plain sight, at the service station that caught fire on the 13200 block of Memorial Drive.

From the birth certificate, Channel 2 Investigates was able to tie the backpack to California Army veteran Dionisio Garza III, 25, who served in Afghanistan.
“We have not received confirmation, but I strongly suspect. I really believe this is a PTSD thing,” the man’s father said by phone, Monday.
Police officers killed Garza Sunday, after an exchange of gunfire.
Garza’s father said his son, although loving, had become increasingly troubled over the last few months and decided to travel to Houston to meet others who believed the United States was on the brink of collapse.
“On the internet he met some people or some people that believed like him.
It’s better to go to Texas. He was trying to get us all to go over there and you know go live in a compound. That kind of talk, you know? That wasn’t my son,” the man said.
Channel 2 Investigates located Facebook and Twitter accounts belonging to Garza.
On Twitter, on May 25 of this year he posted:
“When do you think the dollar will collapse? I know this year?”
Garza’s father, a missionary, last talked to his son Saturday, just one day before the shooting.
“You know he was rambling off about the economy collapsing, you know. And that something was going to happen by Monday, that kind of stuff. Of course you look back now and there were signs. There were signs,” he said.
In a KPRC 2 exclusive interview, Joel Eisenbaum spoke to a man who says his son, Dioni may be the suspect in the west Houston deadly shooting.

KPRC 2 found the father of the man listed on the birth certificate. He said police have not called him, but he said friends and family members informed him that his son is the suspect in the west Houston mass shooting.
The father believes his son’s PTSD contributed to his strange behavior leading up to the shooting.
“I talked to my son on Saturday. He said something was going to happen Monday,” the father said.
He believes his son had a mental breakdown.

He had a rifle and a pistol. Either or both might have been 22LR.

The fact that the guy in his car with the windshield shot out was not even injured points to a .22LR and not .223.
A .223 would have made it through the safety glass. A .22LR would not.

There are 3 eighteen wheelers of the National Disaster Response Team at the Lowes hardware parking lot on I-10 near this Memorial &Wilcrest incident site.
The alleged perp is allegedly and conveniently dead. Cops and people are shot and two are dead. Some other shooter (probably your basic Houston CHL carry man) is being questioned.
