That was a great movie in its time. The Time Machine itself, IMO, is the archetype of steampunk and as much an icon of science fiction as Robby the Robot and The Enterprise.

The claim was that, played backwards, you would hear "someone sang this song for Satan."

There was no explanation as to why anyone would endeavor to listen for a secret message in the Mr. Ed theme song.
