Dog dies from exhaustion after rescuing seven people from earthquake

A four-year-old white Labrador called Dayko has been hailed as a hero after rescuing seven people from the aftermath of the Ecuador earthquake - before dying from exhaustion.

Yes, a real hero dog. How sad that he died.

One of my dearly departed pups had a really strong prey instinct. So, since I have always wanted to help in catastrophes, I took him to be trained for rescue.

He darn near killed himself trying to save during the training.

Yes, I am selfish...I pulled him from the program. He would have been great at rescue...but I really think he would have died.

It is always up to the handler to recognize the signs of a dog being over worked. Then rest them before they get into trouble.

In weather with warm temps even more so working dogs are athletes, Just like humans they have to be keep in shape.
