I’m sure you mean to leave at least 18 inches.

Just use the "cat's tail measurement system". Measure from the butt to the end.....it makes several things longer than they really are....

I like the M1A, except for the clip. The ARs just seem to shoot faster, like Ruger 10/22s.

I built my own from parts as I got the money. That was before the boating accident of course.

My M1A isn’t for fast firing,I have other weapons for that. It’s all about hitting targets at 500 plus yards, slow deliberate fire.

I built three piston driven ARs to test the three 'best' piston systems: Osprey, CMMG, and Adams Arms. It cost me right at $1000 each to build and another cash output to run 500 rounds through each. I'll sell one or two of them for around $900 each and transfer it to a local shop who can do the background and transfer, if you're interested. One of the guns is an 11.5 inch pistol version, tuned to run perfectly with the piston system. The other two are 16 inch guns and work flawlessly with IMI ammo or Wolf cheap stuff.

But you can build your own for around $775, with taxes and shipping for parts. of course, you will want a few specialty tools to work with, which will run you another $100 plus ...

My brain just assploded when you said .458 Socom.

I used to know this dude, typical AR fag, he had 6-8 of them at any time. One was the .458, but I never got to shoot it. He used to go on and on about that rifle.

Schveet!

.458 is da bomb! Expensive to shoot though. Great on hogs.

Lot easier to clean. Never have to scrub the bolt and carrier. No hot gas being blown into the action and around your face. Will maintain it's reliability a lot longer if, God forbid, you actually have to fire a lot of rounds.

I put one together for about $740.

I built mine two years ago with no experience, and YouTube as my guide. Upper and lower. Easier than changing a tire.
She shoots perfectly.
The only pain was rounding up all of the tools, but you’d only have to do that once.
Didn’t even have a workbench. Used my computer desk.
