Well, we’d have a different president for starters.

If all illegal aliens were deported next week, real estate prices would crash

Just how many illegals making min wage do you think own houses? LOL! What a crock.

Many do own houses. But for the most part they rent. If their rental homes became empty, occupancy rates would fall, housing inventory would increase and the laws of supply and demand would affect prices.

And picking our lettuce? We need to pay at least ten dollars a week to avoid paying four dollars for a head of lettuce!

The debt would be the same. The govt hasn’t balanced the checkbook since...ever. Tax and spend OPM. They’ll never run out of ideas how to blow tax dollars so they need more.

Even if we got rid of every illegal immigrant tomorrow our debt will still rise until we get serious in tackling ALL spending especially entitlement spending.

It may give individual states, esp CA some relief, though

I’m not overly educated in economic matters but I think that part of the real estate crash before was the illegal immigrants building too much too fast.

I agree totally.

Not holding my breath.

Elected officials give us “gifts” from our own tax dollars. Here in Flagstaff the city govt threw the city a big ol’ party to celebrate finally finishing a flippin’ bridge 20 years in the making. Did those tax dollars get spent well throwing a stupid party on a bridge? No. Probably made some warm fuzzies for the folks in charge.

Just one of a gozzilian examples for sure, and that’s not even touching “entitlements”.

Why do you think real estate prices would crash. Most, if not all, people living here illegally are renters and are not wealthy. Why would they buy a house in a place where they may be unable to live?

Perhaps rents would decline and apartment building prices would decline, but I don’t think it would affect single family homes much.

“Nationally, 35% of undocumented immigrants are homeowners, according to a 2009 study from the Pew Hispanic Center. Of those who’ve lived in the U.S. for a decade or more, 45% own their home.”

http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/american-dream-undocumented

Any time there would be a decrease in demand for real estate, the prices for real estate will fall.
