News Flash!
First hummer of the season seen today. Walked out side and one (just one) was seen eating at the feeder. Possibly a scout? which would only mean more will soon be following.
Ever see a hummingbird moth? It was a new one for me as well. These come out at dusk and though a moth have a beak like a hummer to get the nectar. An entire flock of them were seen years ago eating in the blooms of our Four O’Clocks.
We get hummingbirds year’round because of lots of artificial feeders. You talkin’ about Sphinx moths?
Possibly. Wikipedia photo looks like what was seen, and the hummingbird reference found would fit. Not as pretty and colorful as hummers, but they are fast flyers.
