Loved Garogiola as the play by play guy on the Westminster Dog Show broadcast.
He was immortalized as Fred Willard in the mockumentary “Best in Show,” an over-the-top portrayal that rankled the veteran announcer.

Sad to hear that. I used to look forward to his afternoon baseball telecasts.
RIP, Joe...

I remember that! You know you hit the big time when Dean roasts ya!

RIP, Joe, and condolences to your family.
Your stories both informed and entertained...you were one of the best, you loved baseball as a game and not for the business end of things. Thanks.

Loved this guy doing baseball broadcasting. He was always excited with the game he was watching.

I remember when Garagiola did his second stint as a cohost of the Today show.

I have the HBO special “When It Was a Game”, that featured colour home movies of ball games and players from the 1930s to 1950s era. Joe was one of the ones featured doing commentary and his remarks were as always insightful and enjoyable to listen to.

I remember when Joe was ubiquitous on baseball telecasts. He also used to help announce the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and the new year's eve Orange Bowl parade.
Anyone else remember "Joe Garagiola's Memory Game?" It had the most complicated rules of any quiz show in history!

I remember the first NBC Game of the Week in 1980, which went into extra innings and ran for hours. He constantly had to update viewers about the time of that night’s episode of “BJ and the Bear.” He joked about that for the rest of the season!

I saw him a few days ago on a “Match Game” rerun.
