I have little interest in teachers and rarely mention them. They are like soldiers in the Army. They have no power and make no decisions. So why would I pick on them?
My hostility is toward the people at the very top, perhaps 500 people, that I call the Education Establishment. These are the people running the schools into the ground. My sense of it is that teachers are as much victims as parents and students. Teachers go to schools of education and are misled about the fundamental theories and methods.
I do see comments on the Internet where people expect teachers to break away from the professors, to figure out the truth for themselves, and to save the schools. But I think that’s expecting too much. I was in the Army and I know exactly how much power I had, which is zero, and right or wrong that’s the way I think of teachers.
An interesting perspective. And a good one, too.
