Adobe Flash has a huge security hole that’s being exploited right now
The Next Web ^ | March 11, 2016 | by OWEN WILLIAMS

Another day, another Adobe Flash security vulnerability.

Adobe issued an emergency patch for Flash overnight to fix a security hole that’s already being actively used in the wildCVE-2016-1010, which an attacker could use to execute code on your machine, is being used in “targeted attacks,” according to Adobe.

The good news is there’s an update that you can get already – or you might already have it, if you turned on automatic updates.

The bad news? Well, it actually affects more than just Flash, extending to Adobe AIR, AIR for Android, Flash Player for Linux and a number of other clients.

Given the attack is already being used, it’s worth heading to Adobe’s site and making sure you have the latest of everything listed there or just uninstalling Flash altogether.

Adobe flash is the program used to create video type media. Flash player is used to open and run the flash files. Same with adobe reader files (pdf) are made available through adobe acrobat and can only be opened with adobe reader (free) or acrobat. bah.

Adobe is fun to create with though, if there is time after reading Free Republic threads.

My adobe flash has been disabled for over a year and I do not update it. Back then it started locking up the computer, I figured out how to disable it. I just don’t miss it. If something comes up that requires it, I just do without it.

If you absolutely must run Flash on your ‘pooter via your browser, completely remove Flash first then install the Chrome browser.

Chrome runs Flash in a more “sandboxed” way

Still not optimal, but better than (ugh) Flash and MSIE

Another Adobe Flash vulnerability? Yawn... - ANDROID PING!

Android Ping!
If you want on or off the Android Ping List, Freepmail me.

Here's irony for you. At work it has been mandated from way up the food chain that we shall use this particular security scanning software. The catch? It requires Adobe Flash be installed to view the output/results of the scan! Duh, the biggest vulnerability on our systems now is that very software. SMDH...

And BTW, the patch for Windows was deployed a few days ago. So unless Windows users have done something silly like disable Windows Update, they should already have it.

This OOB (out of band) patch was ONLY for IE. Microsoft has their own version of Flash for IE, and the patch addressed IE 10, 11, & Edge specifically.

If you're using a browser other than IE, you need to update from Adobe.

There we can agree wholeheartedly. When Jobs was making his stand against Flash ever being officially allowed on iOS it was the number one reason that for OS X Macs were crashing.

A lot of people HAVE disabled Windows update because of the aggressive and irritating marketing of Windows 10. It's possible that they do not have the update.
