As things stand, Donald Trump is the presumptive GOP nominee. That’s awful news, and depressing to contemplate. But terrible possibilities don’t become less terrible if we refuse to contemplate them. Rather, they become more likely.
If the two factions — which make up the overwhelming majority of Republican voters — could be unified, it might be enough to stop Trump.
What would the deal look like? A Rubio–Cruz ticket. Cruz won’t work at the top of the ticket for the simple reason that too many GOP quislings fear Cruz more than Trump. But a unity ticket — a la Reagan–Bush in 1980 — in the form of Los Hermanos Cubanos might just do the trick. There are real costs to such a deal (not least the fact that there are better general-election running mates for Rubio).

Trump has 461 delegates, Cruz has 361 delegates. Rubio has 151 delegates.
And this individual thinks that Cruz is going to join a Rubio ticket with Rubio on top?

OK so you take the person who is doing the worst of all the active candidates and put him on the top of the ticket meant to defeat the candidate doing the best? This is logic that only the Republican establishment could come up with.
It’s interesting how these clowns talk about the “overwhelming” number of republicans being against Trump. I just took a look at the 2012 republican primary results, and the majority of Romney’s wins, up to this same point, were in the 30+ and 40+ range. He did score 96 percent in Guam. It was only in April that he started winning victories with 50+ percent. It should also be noted that Romney had, by mid-April 2012, spent $76 MILLION and had no gope opposition, fewer opponents, and a rather docile media.

Alumni, roommates, law clerks, former staffers in the George W. Bush campaign and White House (and the president himself), members of Congress and others who have known Cruz — lots and lots of people — consider him socially awkward, nasty, dishonest. httpest, a blatant apple-polisher and all-around creepy guy. You can write off a few of these critics as jealous of his success, or liberal antagonists, but all of them? There is something badly amiss here. Cruz, who so obviously lacks emotional intelligence, cannot recognize it, but those closest to him surely must see that something is awry...
