Can a convicted felon run for President?

Legally? Yes. Effectively? No.

US Constitution, Article II, Section 1

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

US Constitution, Amendment XXII, Section 1 - ratified February 27, 1951

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

There is no restriction against a felon running for the office of the President. Only the Constitution may spell those restrictions and it doesn't address the issue. This is because the Constitution is minimalist in nature; the belief was (and remains) that the individual states' would be sufficient to provide all the additional vetting of the candidates for the Office of the President of the United States.

In the end, it's effectively impossible for a felon to become president, just as it's effectively impossible for anyone under 35 to do so either (though, with the latter, apparently it seemed prudent to address that pressing matter at the time of the ratification of the Constitution).

...please list one former President of the United States that won while serving jail time.

Democrats love their criminals... if Hillary goes to jail her poll numbers will go UP with her base...

If Hillary spits on a cop while being hauled off Bernie will have to drop out of the race - she'll be THAT popular with democrats. No way to stop her then...

Nixon was never convicted, yet received a pardon.

I do not believe your assertion of conviction first is actually true.

I agree with every word. HRC was never going to give up running for Presidency on account of investigations into her private email server, and the Dems had no real leverage to force her to do so. The Democrat bench is pretty thin and the Clintons have a vast network of donors and supporters. So, when this server story broke in the NYTimes in March 2015, and HRC didn’t flinch, the Dems were stuck with her. However, I’ve heard Dems such as Donna Brazile say on the morning shows — reluctantly, when pressed, but she did seem sincere — that she didn’t see how HRC, if she were nominated, could actually run if she then were indicted. If HRC is indicted in, say, June, the Dems will swap her for Biden/Warren in a heartbeat. Both Clintons are past their shelf life and if the FBI report is devastating to HRC, the Dems will push her aside. And I agree that that is why they “showcased” Joe Biden at the Oscars.

That list is what we know.

What we don’t would probably overload her infamous server and a couple of super Kray computers.

So who do you think Obama & Jarrett want for VP under Biden? I’ve been thinking it will be Biden running for some time now.

You must be CONVICTED before you can be pardoned.

I don't believe you can pardon an INDICTMENT.

Actually, no. A person can be pardoned for "any crimes they have committed or may have committed" as Nixon was pardoned by Ford.

That’s true. Just don’t want people to get their hopes up about ever seeing her in an Orange jump suit.

It might be a better look than her customary pants suit though.
