Will Trump’s wall protect or imprison?
wnd ^ | 2-26-2016 | ALAN KEYES

Mr. Trump says the wall will be used to keep illegals out. But a wall once divided Berlin, Germany. It symbolized an imprisoned people. It would be ironic if our failure to stop the elitist interests Trump really represents results in an elitist tyranny that turns the border wall we intend for our security into an instrument of control intended to bar our posterity from escaping it.

Don't get me wrong. I favor, and worked with others to support, the construction of appropriate obstacles along our borders, including walls, fences and electronic surveillance, as appropriate. I did so while Mr. Trump was decrying people like us as "mean-spirited" and maybe even funding or applauding people who ridiculed and hated us. But where liberty is concerned, our real security is not just in walls and fences. It is in the loyal hearts and decent will of the guardians who police them. If Donald Trump is the man his actual record suggests, we have every reason to beware of any wall he erects -- for when it serves the interest of his factional allegiance, his true persona will prevail in the use of it, even though it be against our rights and liberty.

First it will protect, and then if/when we have a few years of negative interest rates, bankrupt banks, a crashing dollar, wealth confiscation, gun confiscation, punitive tax rates - it will be to keep people in.

The Berlin Wall was to separate a divided country. This wall is to protect our country and its way-of-life.

That is a marked difference.

Oh wow just sad. Pathetic “pay attention to me” screed

Keep theorizing while the adults get busy saving the country children.

If they are repeaters than some type of fine or imprisonment would be applicable.

No, Mexico has some of the harshest immigration laws in the world. Good like trying to be an illegal in Mexico. Mexico will do a fine job of keeping you out with, or without, the Wall.

Spare me, Alan. A wall along the Mexican border would only be like the Berlin Wall if Mexico built it to keep its citizens from coming here. Nothing wrong with building a wall to keep out people you don't want coming here.

Wow! Just wow!

You can play “what if” for anyone, that does not make your fantasy a reality. A secure border slowing down the invasion has now become the “Berlin Wall”.

Last time I checked, the Berlin Wall was put up to keep Berliners from escaping the joys of communism, not to prevent people from seeking the joys of communism.

The Berlin Wall kept people in - the Mexican Wall keeps people out

It doesn’t matter. He’s not going to build any walls.

We need more than a wall along the border. We need to double the personnel on the border, we need to build a road along the border..even in the native, federal and sanctuary land...and we need turn people back at the border...send all nationalities right back to Mexico where they came from.
Mexico needs to take responsibility for those people it lets in.

I really don't think it's smart to bring up your involvement with that particular fiasco.

There are two kinds of walls. One to keep people in such as the Berlin Wall, and the other to keep people out. Having a border wall to keep out illegals from crossing over rather than going through border control is the way you keep a nation safe. No border, no nation.

Really, Mr. Keyes? We should look at the wall as, possibly, a form of imprisonment?

Well, then I suppose I could look at my front door the same way. That would be just as silly.

So condescendingly saying that only you and your ilk know what is good for the country? And that anyone who has a differing opinion...even those theoretically on the same side of the aisle with similar beliefs to yours are petulant children?

Spoken like a true brown shirt. You should be proud.
