I sort of prefer General *Howling Jake* Smith's methods. Including the train, equipped with a steam-engine-powered flamethrower, with which his troops simply burned out every Filipino village along the tracks.

I suppose you're aware of the little detail that one of George S. Patton's boyhood mentors and storytellers was Confederate cavalryman and guerrilla raider John Singleton Moseby, aka The Grey Ghost.
