The horribly cast DeNiro movie was a little closer to the book, but did take some artistic license. Kenneth Branagh's outstanding performance as Victor was wasted in that film. The book is well worth the read, and is in many ways current today in its examination of technology and morality (should something be done simply because it can be done?)
You might also find interest in the Ken Russell film, "Gothic," which is about Percy and Mary Shelley's stay with Byron.

thanks man. i shall read it. have 2 free books coming to me on kindle anyway. wife got it for me.
what happened to DeNiro? seven or eight incredible roles, and the past 10 years he has taken ANYTHING. and i mean ANYTHING.
i’m glad my favorite, Pacino has been more discriminating.

For me, the most depressing thing about reading Frankenstein was the realization that Shelley began writing it at 18. The only thing I began at 18 was drinking heavily.

"This is relevant to my interests." Point one; extending human life is a noble and needed goal, to go along with preparing for interstellar travel.
Point two; people always, always, misinterpret what life extension must logically mean.
Point three; I guess I'll have to write a book about it.

Not really, poor cinematography and many sexual references.

The world gets worse, yet more people want immortality. People without a religion or sense of afterlife will do everything to stay alive.
