It's a bit more of a self parody than the original series, especially the 2nd episode.

Yeah. I wasn't that into it. Everybody seemed tired and it was like they had some private joke of their own all the time.

On the other hand, I might have liked it if they had more private jokes, like alluding to what the actors had actually been doing for the last twenty years: kids, divorces, Scully in Britain, Mulder as a sex addict, etc.

This X-Files series, has totally kicked a$$! I want more!

There have been whispers about "Season 11" - I'll bet they'll keep it tightly under wraps until after the sixth episode of this miniseries airs.

Last Monday, the "coming next week" segment at the end had a network message: "Only one more episode left before the SEASON finale!" Hmm...

“Harold Ramis (the one w/glasses) died recently didn’t he?”

Yes. Almost exactly two years ago.

Connoisseur of the X Files. First eight seasons are golden televison.

Tired bitter Mulder versus smarmy is not cutting it for me, Anderson just looks like she is going though the motions.

Some of the effects, esp. the Roswell recreation in the 1st episode were pretty nice, but all in all, this foray 15 years later is luke warm at best.

He is still around. This is one time were fiction overcame truth. Frankly, I believed he had passed several years ago. Must have been the smokes which led me to believe that.

If the Files is reincarnated - this is one character from the good old days we might want to see revisited.

What about the ghost of cranky uncle Walter Cronkite?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezfxkKXGdag

Walter Cronkite:

...The first priority of humankind in this difficult era is to establish an effective system of world law that will assure peace and justice among the peoples of all the world. But second, I uh I feel rather sentimental uh about this award and this organization because half a century ago Norman Cousins offered me a job in Washington as a lobbyist for a nascent organization called World Federalists...

...I chose instead to uh it turned out to continue in the world of journalism, uh for many years. I did my best to report on the issues of the day with as much fairness as I possibly could in objective a manner as possible to achieve. When I had my own strong opinions, I tried to put them aside for the moment in the interest of fairness, I didn't communicate my hopes to my audience, NOW however, NOW HOWEVER, my circumstances are considerably different. I'm in a position to speak my mind and by god I'm going to do it! You know, those of us living today can truly influence the future of civilization, we can influence whether our planet is going to live or die, whether it's going to drift off into chaos or violence, or whether through a monumental educational and political effort, a monumental effort we will achieve peace and a system of law where individual violators of that law are brought to justice.

(tape edit) For how many thousands of years now have we humans been what we insist on calling civilized? And yet in total contradiction we persist in the savage belief that we must, occasionally at least, settle our arguments by killing each other. While we spend much of our time and a great deal of our treasure preparing for war we spend no comparable effort in establishing peace. Those emphasizing the slot in this regard, those advocates working for world peace by urging a system of world law and order, world government if you please, are called impractical dreamers. Those impractical dreamers, impractical dreamers, it would seem to me, are entitled to ask their critics what is so darn practical about war.

(tape edit) First we Americans are going to have to yield up some of our sovereignty, that's going to be to many a bitter pill. It would take a lot of courage, a lot of faith, a lot of persuasion for them to come along with us on this necessity (tape edit) Our forefathers believed that the closer the laws are to the people the better. Cities legislate on local matters, of course, states make decisions on matters within their borders, and the national government deals with issues that transcend the states, such as interstate commerce, foreign relations, that's what we mean by federalism. Today we must develop federal structures on a global level to deal with world problems, we need a system of enforceable world law, a democratic world federal government, You know, what Alexander Hamilton wrote about the need for law on the 13 states applies today to the approximately 200 sovereignties in our global village all of which are going have to be convinced to give up some of that sovereignty to the better greater union. Hamilton said, and it's not going to be easy, Hamilton said, ‘to look for a continuation of harmony between a number of unconnected independent sovereignties in the same neighborhood would be to disregard the uniform course of human events and sit in defiance of accumulated experience of ages.’ Most importantly we should sign and ratify the treaty for a permanent international world criminal court. That is now at the core of the world federalist movement's drive. That court will enable to the world to hold individuals accountable for their crimes against humanity.

(tape edit) ...their leader Pat Robertson has written in a book a few years ago that we should have a world government but only when (mocking tone) ‘the Messiah arrives’. He wrote ‘however any attempt to achieve world order before that time must be the work of the devil’, Well join me, I'm GLAD to sit here at the right hand of Satan.

It appears that Miller and Einstein are going to replace Mulder and Scully insofar as Duchovny has his hands full with his latest series. I suspect we'll see six episodes per year with Miller and Einstein as the stars. Mulder and Scully will make cameo appearances but not much more.

The appearance of the Lone Gunmen in that "psilocybin" trip went by so quickly I had to re-watch the episode On Demand to see if it was really they.

That was basically tried in Seasons 8 and 9, with disastrous results. I see the show trying to create a young mirror image with the new pair, but whether they can pull of the same chemistry as Mulder-Scully is a long shot.

I was wondering how they were gong to work the Lone Gunmen in, since they died near at what I thought was the end of the series. I missed it....must have been a milli-second.

The mushroom trip was silly, and at least to an X-Files purist, the whole season has been a tarnish on one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

Makes you wonder how much Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul) must have contributed to X-Files, as these are my favorite shows of the last 10 years.

When Mulder was on his “drug trip,” drinking beer in the honky-tonk and holding up the MUSH and ROOM signs, he was sitting among the Lone Gunmen. It was only for a few seconds.
