I used to teach aerobics.
Every once in a while I would bring in a Sousa march. It was a great warm-up and NO ONE could resist that music!

FABulous stuff.

March 1985 was pretty nice. March 2009 sucked.

Lights Out March by Earl McCoy (1906), which is based on the bugle call "Taps," belongs on that list.

My grandfather was with Sousa’s band. Even went to San Juan with Teddy Roosevelt’s Expeditionary Force.

He wanted Stars and Stripes Forever played at his funeral. He got his wish.

Fans of the Stanford Indians, the 2016 Rose Bowl champs, will be happy that The New Colonial March, their football song, made the list.

At one Cal-Stanford game the Stanford band had all white tubas and there were letters on it. They got their tubas lined up to spell out "FUCCAL."
SOME Standford alumni thought it was "cute." Those who hated it said nothing.

Spoiled brats, all of them.

No GARY OWEN. We won’t be seeing the list maker in Fiddlers’ Green when he dies.
The Japanese played MARCHING THROUGH GEORGIA when they entered Port Arthur in ‘05.

I may have missed it on the list, but one of my favorite march tunes is “Old 1812”. It is also known by a different title, “Welcome Home Again”. You may not recognize the titles, but if you have ever watched the movie, “The Outlaw Josey Wales”, then you have heard it. Most Civil War re-enactment musicians play it.

Radetzky March. That's the one where the audience claps in time with the music.

The Japanese played MARCHING THROUGH GEORGIA when they entered Port Arthur in ‘05.

I served under an Air Force Colonel who had been Air Attache in Chungking when the Chinese Communists took over in 1949. He told me their band played "On Wisconsin" for the victory parade.

My grandfather was with Sousa’s band.

My high school band director had formerly played the French horn in Sousa's band. We had a lot of Sousa marches in our repertoire.

Have to do this...I recall listening on my car radio to Bill Clinton’s second Inaugural, and the military band struck up John Phillip Susa’s Liberty March. Educated people like you and me know it as...the Monty Python theme song. But consider that...some military man made the decision that having returned the First Rapist to tenuous power...the military march he was going to get...was the Monty Python theme.
