I own a 1st gen xB and an Frs. Love em both.
I think the styling of the 2nd generation of the Scion products was not good. Most folks realized they could get the same Toyota drivetrain in a Toyota branded vehicle for less money. And if the Scion wasn’t appealing styling-wise, they just walked to the Toyota store usually about 100 feet away.
I and my wife shopped for a SUV about 7 or 8 years ago. We were predisposed toward Honda, but we test drove everything sold my Toyota and Honda. We bought a Toyota RAV4 - it was inexpensive, had good styling and had more headroom, particularly in the backseat, than the others. Toyota still had a good reputation then. It has held up good so far, but we sure miss the superior Honda dealer service.
Yep. The second generation xB ruined what people liked about it. Ford had this problem With the second generation Thunderbird.

After years of slumping sales, Toyota suddenly realizes Scions are as ugly as baboon butts.
In related news, Nissan still holds out hope that their Cube car will appeal to the niche market of legally blind drivers.
Those Cubes are too gay.
Got stuck in a Cube (Budget called it a mid-size) when they didn’t manage the reservation on an Altima for us. The gay piece of crap had less room than our ‘93 Corolla.
Not to mention just how gay it is.
Could be part of the problem.
Scions are popular in So Calif and I am surprised that Toyota wishes to cancel the brand. My brother has a 1998 Rav 4 that still runs smoothly. Amazing vehicle.

Kia Soul is similar but much better looking. Great little car for college kids and older folks that have trouble getting in and out of low slung econo boxes.
