Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) president Cheryl Boone Isaacs said Monday she was âheartbrokenâ after the organization behind the Academy Awards nominated exclusively white actors in top acting acting categories for a second straight year, and vowed âbig changesâ were in store to combat what some critics call a major diversity problem at Hollywoodâs biggest night.

Academy Affirmative Action?
Will it make the movies better?
Quotas, as opposed to merit.
Liberalism strikes again.
Patheric. Quota for everything.
#blackactorsmatter
As if any awards carry much prestige to them anyway, enter affirmative action Oscars.
Give them their own special category.
They need to establish a quota of at least 40%...just like in commercials.
Why don’t they just have Best Black Actor/Best Black Actress/Best Black Motion Picture, happy now?
I stop going to movies years ago.
Just have Black Academy Awards.
They already have the Latin Grammys. So there is a precedent.
Why don’t we see the make up of the people who voted? That would give a clearer picture of this issue.
Yah! More quotas and more tokens!
...to be quickly followed by Oscar quotas for LGBT (and whatever other letters) actors and actresses.
“happy now?”
I’m afraid they never will be.
Of course the Latinos will start whining too.
They’ve already got the BET awards :P
I think they should start an organization called Black Oscars Matter and stage a takeover of the Oscars while they are live.
That will show the committee.
Ah, quota Oscars.
Seems reasonable, given our no talent quota president.
A point re over representation of blacks in U. S. commercials.
There’s a reason for this. Studies have been done on race of actors in commercials. Whites don’t care about race. Black or Asian. Commercials are equally effective. But black people do. They are more likely to buy products marketed with black actors.
So no loss to out blacks in the commercials. That’s why they are over represented.
The more you know...
