Woman killed when car hits deer Tuesday, January 5, 2016 ~ Updated 4:24 PM
Hope Thompson, 49, of Sedgewickville, Missouri, was killed Jan. 4 when the car her daughter was driving struck a deer on Highway 72, three miles east of Patton, Missouri.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the deer crashed through the windshield of the 2012 Nissan Sentra driven by Rhiannon Thompson, 16, of Sedgewickville, striking both occupants. Hope Thompson was pronounced dead the scene.
Rhiannon Thompson was taken by helicopter to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau in serious condition.
They should have moved the deer crossing to a safer place.

Kill them with guns or kill them with cars. Those are the choices. Live and let live is not an option.
At least when you shoot them, they don’t shoot back.
cue the song “in a yugo”
The EPA and environazi’s kill the people in that car. Time for an executive order!
Yet...
ROUSes...
I consider myself lucky. Hitting a deer is nothing to joke about.
Hitting a deer is what you want to do up here if you need to hit something. The elk and especially the moose are what you want to avoid.
Up here though, you’re also advised to drive a one ton diesel with at least a 4” lift, it will help you some.
Heck, the wolf I saw the other day was the size of a female elk.
The libs will scream about deer hunting, wailing about killing Bambi .... until one of those big bad boys invite themselves into their windshield, and then the wailing begins on why “someone” hasn’t done something to protect the public.
I hit a deer in a rented minivan when I was driving in the middle of the night in Minnesota. Dang thing jumped right into the front of the car when I was doing 70+. All I saw was a flash, then a huge explosion as the airbags deployed. Totaled the van, but it held up better than the deer. There was blood and hair on every square inch of the exterior, but hardly any left on the carcass. More people are killed by deer than any other animal. Glad I didn’t rent a mini car that trip!
I live in the Texas hill country and our town is loaded with the damn things. A deer hit me last year. I was doing 20mph and it jumped out of the ditch and hit the side of my front fender.
At one place of residence there were numerous deer crossings that I had to carefully negotiate on my way to work. I had a twenty mile one way commute. At night. Thank God I'm now retired.
