Why did Kylo Ren turn evil?
Thatâs a central unanswered question of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Ren is the filmâs villain, a young acolyte of the late Darth Vader. (Spoiler alert: He is also the son of two of the filmâs famous characters, whose names Iâm going to reveal).

I haven’t seen the movie yet!
Because he thought it was the fastest way to get laid?
This could be a useful analysis, if the screenwriter felt this way and made an effort to express this viewpoint on society’s decline.
However, it is far more likely that the character is the way he is because of bad writing and someone’s desire for a certain character arc, whether or not such an arc made any sense.

It started when he put a Hillary bumper sticker on his space ship.

He turned evil because all it takes to turn evil in the Star Wars universe is to have any emotion whatsoever.
Supposedly to be on the light side you have to be a detached emotionless robot.
Stub your toe, get angry just once and it is red lightsabers and black masks for the rest of your life....
With parents as busy as Leia & Hans its easy to see why the son got interested in the dark side. It is powerful while the parents were weak.
