I am happy to report that thanks to this_ol_patriot’s suggestion, The problem seems to be resolved- I have not had any wake events logged other than when I click the keyboard to wake my computer from sleep as it normally is supposed to do
It was the Norton Internet Security that was causing a wake event which was triggered by something called Wake Source: Timer - Task Scheduler will execute \Remediation\AntimalwareMigrationTask task.
Once I looked this up I found a thread on Norton’s site which showed how to disable this task scheduled event-
It appears that Norton’s is aware of the problem and working on a fix for hteir next update, so I’ll probably just wait until then for the fix- in the meantime I’ll just manually keep disabling the task scheduled events-
Thank you to all who weighed in- and a special thanks to patriot for pointing out what the problem likely was
thanks a lot, that giff caused an epileptic seizure-
