Uh-oh... Parents need to watch out on this one.
Here in Washington State even though a student has ALL the credits they need, they have to take a test in order to graduate. If they take the test and pass they WILL NOT receive their diploma if ALL their books are not turned in or fines paid if books are lost.
So students could be graduated but never have a diploma to show it.
This ping list is for the "other" articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
What is worse is that is actually a soccer ball, not a football.
.
The issue will be resolved when the “graduates” seek to enter the workforce.
Well...actually we the taxpayers used to have a say...but the socialist/ignorant voters, courts etc have over run our system.
I suspect that most NYC students, now, couldn't pass any of the Regents exams from a generation ago, let alone any of the earlier ones and that includes the kids who go to the elite private schools.
Yes, I’m painfully aware...
Thank you. I think they may do that here too. Not sure how much good the paper diploma is as opposed to the graduation, but that makes sense.
there goes any value such a degree use to hold
“High school seniors will receive their diploma whether or not they pass or even take an exit exam; the law also applies retroactively to students who have graduated since 2004”
Why require attendance of classes at all, then? It’d be a hell of a lot cheaper to just issue a high school diploma to everyone that wants one and let them skip going to school all together.
That way, the educational infrastructure could be greatly downsized from babysitting factories into smaller institutions that could really concentrate on teaching.
Perhaps employers should have entrance exams. Same for welfare recipients.
It’s part of the plan - create an entire generation of stupids who are dependent on the gov’t, and who will raise their kids to be dependent on the gov’t.
I see stupid people everywhere...
