I do not think clipping your cat’s fur is unethical. My long-haired Norwegian Forest Cat does not groom himself very well; his fur gets very matted and dirty and every 3-4 months I have to take him in and have him shorn. He is at all cooperative with his shampoo and shave, indeed he is very rude and disrespectful toward the grooming lady. His language would make a sailor kitteh blush. He treats the grooming lady even worse than he treats everybody else in the world; he is not a gentleman. (Occasionally, he is nice to me in his own feed-me-now sort of way.) Thus he ends up with a very bad $60 sort-of-a-lion cut. I would get a kick of getting him a dragon cut next time he goes in (appointment next week) as it would certainly fit his personality but I think he would have to be sedated to do it, and I do not think I should put him at risk with an unnecessary anesthesia. I will say this, after each session with the grooming lady, his disposition improves a bit having encountered someone more determined and tougher than he is. So the $60 is well spent indeed.

I have a Tabby named Teach (after the pirate) who’s personality would fit that look perfectly.

It looks cool, but isn’t kitty going to be cold with all of that fur missing?

How do they get a cat to sit still for any kind of a cut using electric clippers?

Owch. What’s the story behind that? Unless that’s on a finger, I think only a feline the size of a cougar or larger could do that -but they have more than three digits. Hmmm...

Not to worry, Utilizer. It's prosthetic. I wanted to make a j-o-k-e. My Maine Coon would much rather roll over and get a tummy rub than shred someone. I personally am much more likely to shred someone who would mutilate my gorgeous cat that way. The groomer watches me, with fear in her eyes, as I struggle to maintain control after she forgets not to ask me, "Do you want a lion cut on her?"
Cats are cats, not My Little Ponies to manipulate. If you don't like what your cat looks like, why did you adopt it in the first place?
