6 Million Un-Dead Have Social Security Numbers, Audit Finds
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 11/13/2015 | John Merline

Posted on 11/16/2015 3:58:14 AM PST by IBD editorial writer

An internal audit out this week reports that there are 6 million people with Social Security numbers who were born more than 112 years ago. Unless there is a Missouri's worth of extremely aged Americans, what this means is that Social Security didn't get the death information that it was supposed to receive on these people.

The Federal Government is in no hurry to clean up fake or dead Social Security numbers.

So long as illegal workers use those fake numbers and employers send the payroll taxes to Washington, the bureaucrats will look the other way.

This is free money for government bureaucrats.

Some of them are likely still receiving checks. Despite the belief of voter fraud as the first answer, which is also likely, the more reasonable belief would be that some relative wants the money and is still being paid. People are far more motivated by greed than to cast a vote for a democrat. Either way, the SSA should fix this mess.

IBD is not exactly a do-it-yourself blog factory.

I am willing to give this one a pass.

An insurance broker once told me that gypsies ‘never die’. They pass their social security numbers on to their loved ones who continue to collect and the deceased are buried in the woods in secret. Occasionally, we hear of someone being 117 years old but in truth they are holding their parents or grandparents social security card.

There is only 1 billion possible SS numbers

We are going to have to have a new numbering systems soon, if they want to make sure they never re-use a number.

Like poor Obama did. He must have been so poor they could not afford his own SS number so they used one previously used by a gentleman named Harry Brounel

easonable belief would be that some relative wants the money and is still being paid

That's exactly what's happening.......along with the continued receipt of any company sponsored pension benefits they were collecting.

The article is stupid.
The author of the article is stupid.
People who read the article and don’t notice both of the above are also stupid.

The Social Security Administration isn’t just “supposed to receive” information when people die. They have a duty to be constantly searching for that information.

It is never someone else’s fault when they screw up.

"Voter and election fraud alert!"

You don't need a SS# to register and vote. But you do need one to fraudulently collect public assistance and work. (Though many of the same people will also fraudulently vote.)

But don't forget its all just "acts of love."

The article states: "These un-dead aren't collecting {SS} benefits" they're using the SS#s for other non-SS fraud.

See post #18.

One fraud leads another. They get their foot in the door, and they’re given the inch that enables them to take the mile.
