I’ll be so glad when this stupid Zombie fad ends.
The zombie fad preservers because, more than anything, it's SHTF drama; how to survive in a world where all the comforts of modernity are gone and the social rules that held a modern, industrialized civilization together no longer apply. In The Walking Dead the zombies have become a nuisance. The real enemies are other human survivors.
Some take the term “Zombie” as a metaphor - a nicer term for the ferals & unprepared in big cities who will be on the prowl for their next meals/victims.
Still, unless you already have a fully-stocked retreat or tribe expecting your arrival “in the hills”, you’re simply going to have a slower & more painful death via starvation or waterbourne illness.
At least the scenery will be nicer :-)
