Adidas announced an initiative Thursday to help high schools nationwide drop Native American mascots.

The athletic shoe and apparel maker said it will offer free design resources to schools looking to shelve Native American mascots, nicknames, imagery or symbolism. The German company also pledged to provide financial support to ensure the cost of changing is not prohibitive.

So the idea is to purge all memory of Native Americans?

Now you know why the USA is the laughing stock of the world.

Obama said the children of Native American heritage who attend the roughly 2,000 schools that still have such mascots could feel alienated by them.

**If you walk into a school and you*re already feeling that stereotypes are embedded in the culture and the cheers, that kid is feeling set apart and different,** he said.

I did not know they were German. Maybe we could let them sponsor/design logos etc. for the Duluth Nazis. The Redding Brownshirts.

When the Fighting Irish and the Minnesota Vikings go away, I guess they can do that with American Indians too.

Only a completely PC-cowed country, one that the devil has seized by the neck, could take a compliment and turn it into a perceived wrong or insult. (Not even all American Indian tribal associations feel this way, and some of the savvier ones have trademarked their own tribal affiliation... wampum comes into the capitalist age.)

Here’s what I’m thinking. “Some” American Indian grievance groups (which might even be powered from non American Indian sources) don’t want the warrior meme to live... because, frankly, sometimes that capacity was misused and tribes would get into hateful, bloody or otherwise deadly (Starved Rock, anyone?) grudge fights against one another. Of all the ills suffered by modern American Indians, that is now low on the list, to understate it. And the paleface idea of peace is to be credited. It worked a lot better than tobacco smoke.

I wonder which account rep Adidas will send to meet with Florida State to make a pitch?

The Seminole tribe was smart, worked a deal with them, made out like bandits, most people are happy. Florida State should counter and ask if Nike (that word is supposed to mean victory, right?) a line of athletic shoes with the Seminole logo on it.

Kipling kind of alluded to that in his “White Man’s Burden” poem. I am not sure he realized where the concept was going... a noble quest deteriorated into a self hate fest as the “burden” peoples were not respected enough to be challenged to stand alone (well, not really alone, but with God).

0bamamao is a moron. Teams choose mascots that symbolize strength, a winning attitude. That’s why you’ll find teams called the Braves, the Redskins, the Fighting Irish, the Indians. None are called the Fighting GOPers. There IS a reason.

Perhaps it’s time to go full retard PC and have PETA target all university mascots, disguised as small to large-sized mammalians or reptiles, with “micro-aggression.” New York Law firms are probably lining up the class action suits right now.

As compared to being proud of heritage and feeling inclusive due to ancestry? .......Obama is an idiot!

Yes, we must expunge all reminders of “Native Americans” (the “We Got Here Before You!” crowd)!

Change all place names!

Close all reservations!

Close the Bureau of Indian Affairs (yep, it is still called that - @ $2.9 Billion annually)!

Or, we could simplify everything.

All school mascots must be either “Clovis People” or “Newbies!

A few diehard New Englanders will probably insist on using “Mayflowers” until the SCOTUS sends in the Federal Marshalls to confiscate all the goofy hats and large buckle shoes.

/s

[in case you are wondering, PETA has placed all animal names “Off-Limits!”]

Well, that's real sweet.

Consider one of the first to go after a concerted nearly decade-long running court battle with the NCAA was the warrior from the University of North Dakota's "Fighting Sioux".

Never mind that the design was drawn by Bennett Brien and here, a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.

The Spirit Lake Sioux elders approved the design.

After years of fighting with the NCAA and others who somehow found a design created by an American Indian, and approved by American Indians, and reflective of a warrior heritage, embraced by the attendees at the University to be somehow "demeaning", now some tinpot sneaker manufacturer wants the design rights to the new logos for these schools?

Pi$$ OFF!
