I loved Star Wars(basically based on the Japanese movie—The Hidden Fortress) and especially the Empire Strikes Back but after those two, those movies , George Lucas destroyed the series especially with the stupid Ewoks, casting of Anikan SkyWalker in the second trilogy and the horrendous dialogue that crippled some of the well casted actors in the second trilogy—Ewan Mcgregor, Natalie Portman etc...
It's high space opera and is damned entertaining. Which is my only requirement for a movie; Is it entertaining?
If you can't stand watching it without nit-picking it to death then simply don't watch it.

He hates the franchise because it’s a long-running space opera modeled after Westerns. The good guys eventually defeat the bad guys, even when some of the good guys become bad guys. Plus lots of weapons, explosions, and dead bodies, which are too much for the Brit Twit’s delicate constitution.
Imagine something that sucked that bad making over $27 billion in ticket sales, DVDs, games, toys, books, and related merchandising. How much could it have made if the movies were good? </sarcasm>
