The View has become the center of controversy once again, this time after Raven-Symoné admitted that she would not hire someone with a 'black' name.
'I'm not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea,' the former child star said to her shocked co-hosts during Thursday's episode of the ABC show.
'It's just not going to happen,' she continued. 'I'm not going to hire you.'
Raven's comment came while the women discussed a recent UCLA study published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior, which found that Americans make racist assumptions based on people's names.
Whoopi Goldberg introduced the topic and then played a popular YouTube video, titled '60 most ghetto names', for the audience.
The countdown video featured names like 'Grapedrankisha' and 'Fri'Chickenisha'.
'Just to bring it back, can we take back "racist" and say "discriminatory", because I think that's a better word,' Raven asked after the clip ended.
Whoopi nodded, saying 'It's a much better word,' but her agreement was short-lived as Raven continued to speak.
'And I am very discriminatory against words like the ones they were saying in those names,' she said, referencing the video before admitting she would never hire a 'Watermelondrea'.
Whoopi's hands flew to her chest following the comment and she gave the audience a horrified look, but Raven pointed at her reaction and laughed.....

You think!?
Wake up! We're judged by everything!
That's life.
Get used to it.
PC is BS.
Anyone still watching ‘The Spew’ has a big hole in their head and their brains have already leaked out. They’re just not smart enough to realize it yet.
I don’t watch “The View” or “The Five” — it’s stomach churning to think people watch and care about their every thought and movement.
However, this article gave me a good laugh.
I know you don’t watch that pap. I would never accuse a Freeper of that. I was speaking in generality.
If you like a bunch of whiney, gossipy liberal lalaland feminazis who support Obama, all things un-American and the NWO then its the show for you...Its definitely not for me
Just checking.

Rwanda, Tanganyika, etc.
DANG!
This from someone calling herself “Raven-SymonAY”? In what culture does she imagine that is a standard “Mary Anne” sort of name?
Guess she is the wrong color for the press to give it much play
Let a fortune 500 corporation say this to a latiqua or a shanikwa. Here once again they prove thier hypocritical nature
I wouldn’t hire someone named muhammad, barack, or hussein either.

Speaking truth to power.
Besides saying something that “whites” are forbidden to say, she is speaking the truth.
If all someone has is a name, they will make a judgement on that name.
Parents, want your child to succeed in life, do not give them a strange or made up name.
Some successful people have been able to overcome the burden of a strange or unfamiliar name, but first they shorten it to the initials, or they establish a nick name.
Personally I have a rather boring middle class name that is easy to spell and to pronounce. I may have saved a few hours over my life time not having to correct someone on how to pronounce or spell it.
Dick has 6 apples, Jane has 7 apples, and Quashinka has 4 apples.
Question: From whom did Quashinka steal his apples?
Spot on.
Funny, I thought “Ball All Night” meant somethin’ else.
