For more than two decades, Ragnar the Viking got Minnesota football stirred into a frenzy with his motorcycle-riding, endzone-dancing antics. According to his website, he was the only NFL mascot who appeared as an actual human.
It turns out maybe Ragnar is a little too human.

More important is how Vikings treated homos and transgenders freaks.
Ragnarok for Ragnar.
I am offended by their racially insensitive mascot and demand they change their name. (ufdah)
Everyone was initially on Ragnar’s side until they found out the specifics of why he was let go. 20K a game lmao for a janitor who dresses up for 3 hours 8 times a year.
Isn’t he basically to the Vikes what Cowboy Ray was to the Cowboys and Chief Zee for the Redskins? I don’t recall them getting paid.
Maybe they should hire TechnoViking.
Yeah, exactly. The main difference was the team brought him in early on and basically put him on the payroll so he could start doing special events and other things.
Because mascots are so important to a team’s wins and losses. I can see the Viking brass doing a Michael Corleone on this clown. “Not only will we not pay you anything, we would like it if you pay us to put on the uni and run around the stadium.”
He made 1500 a Game average. Wanted 20K?
Can he tackle and read a screen?
Suit him up.. Cheap!
Some people don’t realize when they are exceptionally fortunate.
This is not work, it is participation. $1,500 for it is gravy.
$20,000 a game? That's no where near what I got when I was the scourge of England and France.
Not even Fran Tarkington earned $20,000 a game when he was with the Vikings!
But then again, Ragnar the Viking has won as many Super Bowls for the Vikings as Fran Tarkington.

That’s a name that I haven’t heard of in a long time.
That’s Incredible!
Ragnar Dannaskjold?
Taht would be $160,000 per year — a little more if tehy’re ein the playoffs. They can’t afford that? Then maybe they’re overpaying the players.
Oh. Back when the minimum wage was $1.65?
