Do you trust the Gravis Marketing poll which had Trump at 30.8% in July, 40% in August & now at 22%?

Why vote for Cruz over Trump? To put it concisely, because he has a long, consistent record of strong conservative leadership.

And my point was that if you are viewing immigration as the end-all, be-all issue, the sad fact is that NO candidate has a consistently strong enough position on that issue. Not even Trump.

But not on immigration. He opposed the "pathway to citizenship," but otherwise supported granting legal status to illegal aliens, a position that is meaningless, since once granting legal residence to 40 million people the pathway to citizenship is guaranteed.

He has also not shown leadership with the TPP, even opposing Sessions and going along with the Establishment's talking points.

Trump is every day being called a racist, losing business, getting personally attacked because he uses the D-word-- deportation-- and you want me to ignore all of that to vote for your candidate who is going to screw up the country?

No thank you. I'm sticking with Trump. You can go vote for your "conservative leader" who is going to increase the Democratic voter electorate by another 10 or even 15 or 20 percent.

The point is, I simply don’t believe when Trump says he is actually going to deport all illegals, given his previous statements on the issue. And, without that issue, I see no reason to support him.

But if you trust the guy, then go right ahead.

Who cares that you don't believe Trump to do something you know your candidate won't do at all? It's a stupid and infantile reason to doom the country. "I don't believe your candidate really will save the country from permanent Democratic control! So I'm going to choose the candidate who guarantees it!"

Gravis is debate watchers only. A couple of folks I know, Trump supporters, didn’t watch the debate because Hugh Dirkastan Hewitt was a moderator. I think they are not alone. And would not be included in this poll.

No, it’s more that Trump is so much worse on pretty much every issue, and I’m not willing to throw everything else away just for the *slight* chance that he’ll actually be better on immigration.

Latest Zogby poll....

http://www.forbes.com/sites/johnzogby/2015/09/20/zogby-poll-trump-widens-lead-after-gop-debate/

Real estate mogul Trump has widened his lead to 20 points in a brand new Zogby Analytics poll taken after the second Republican presidential debate. The new poll of 405 likely Republican primary/caucus voters nationwide with a margin of sampling error of +/- 5.0 percentage points, conducted September 18-19, shows Mr. Trump with 33% (up 2 points from his pre-debate 31%). In second place is neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson who actually dropped 3 points to 13%. Former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, widely considered to be the big winner in the debate, moved up from just 2% last week to 7% and fourth place in the new poll – just 2 points behind former Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s 9% (which is exactly where he was last week)......

Thank you, beautiful Jane Long.

I saw it.

Surprised Zogby is still polling.

Great on taxes, better than Cruz on trade and TPP, great on healthcare, great on the second amendment.

and I’m not willing to throw everything else away just for the *slight* chance that he’ll actually be better on immigration.

Which is bullshit, because you ARE trading everything else away when you embrace amnesty, regardless of how Cruz redefines it.

(And by the way, many here think he is a movement conservative)

Who? I don't know of any. Sounds more to me like you just trying to pad your prattle. Just like "Christian Bashing Pageant," when he's the ONLY guy talking about Christians getting their heads cut off by ISIS.

Why is that? Was it petulant when everyone made telepropmpter jokes about Obama? So far, Trump has never been able to show he has a basic understanding of conservatism. Yet, he says he's, "very smart." 23 times in one speech, but that's okay?

You have a remarkable gift for questioning the self-evident, doubting the undoubtable, and treating your own non-sequiturs as if they actually support your point.

What does any of what you've written have to do with you trying to paint the man as too stupid to know his own positions?

Offset polling data with turnout when he “stumps’. Haven’t seen any decline there despite polls starting to act like the stock market....
