Interesting. I think there’s also Johnston Atoll, in an emergency.

They’ll file a VDR and the AMT, dispatcher and pilot will file a smart report. Then they will add on layers of bureaucracy and letters will go in files, maybe some time off without pay.

I’ve been looking online and I am seeing some references to Midway being partially subsidized by Boeing for this very reason.
