What you just said is why I and others believe an Iran nuke will be utilized as a HEMP weapon.
More bang for the buck; can affect an area hundreds if not thousands of square miles in size.
They have proven launch vehicle already.

probably not, weather generally moves west to east so unless you are on Long Island you should be ok. All bets are off though if a Nor’Ester is blowing.
