I don’t buy it. I’m no doctor, but 50%??? C’mon, now. 160 MILLION people diagnosed or undiagnosed?

Let’s just say that I’m skeptical...

Almost diabetic....

One of my lady friends got a high read and her doctor put her on diabetic meds....Then she really got sick.

The readings were all over the place....

The doctor took her off the meds....and her system was reading just fine.

Another avoidable “disability” for these people to hide behind. Get ‘em some free dialysis, and a handicap sticker for the car.

MORE OBAMACARE....would fix this, or WAIT a minute. This means PERSONAL responsibility for diet. NO ONE wants to take responsibility, even for their sexual trysts when they get pregnant they then want the gubmint to pay for their infanticide murder.

Over 1 million years of evolution, our ancestors walked many miles every day to find food. And they had to chase fast galloping herbivores to hunt for food.

Now our exercise is limited to walking to the parking lot to get into the car, for 50% of Americans.

Here is what I am doing to keep my blood sugar under control: Eating only whole grain bread, 3 servings of green vegetables and 2 servings of protein (eggs, chicken, turkey, pork sausage), 2 fresh fruits, yogurt, nuts and lentils. Avoiding potatoes, white rice, any bread which is not whole grain, fruit juices, all sweets. My dessert is fancy Majdul dates and plump prunes with half and half. Especially avoiding anything which has high fructose corn syrup.

Or they’ve adjusted the numbers making more and more fall into that category to sell more prescriptions. These days, anyone over 125 pounds is obese.

When all we had was insulin and “first generation “ oral agents, diabetes was defined as fasting blood sugar >140 and often a 4 hour test of successive results as a given amount of sugar was metabolized. But just like the cholesterol story, as medications were developed that allowed relatively safe re-definition of “diabetes” that could be treated , we went to FBS 118, now 100. It’s hard to prove that that incremental lowering really does a lot, but it sells a lot of pills. Probably makes the newer treatment available in cases where it is a good idea to treat as well.

More than that. Excessive consumption of carbs of all kinds, plus a poor diet in general and lack of exercise. And for some, the tendency to be diabetic runs in families.

One can state with 100% confidence that 100% of people are diagnosed or undiagnosed. One does not even need evidence to be irrefutably correct.

High Fructose Corn syrup !

Right.

'Cause if you replaced it, calorie for calorie, with cane sugar ... and people consumed the same food products in the same quantities ...

They'd be rail thin ... not a hint of obesity.

How many of those people are taking anti-cholesterol drugs? You have a 67% greater chance of diabetes. How many are on BP drugs?? Many of them elevate blood sugar. How many are on Thyroid meds? Again it can raise blood sugars. If you take all three - guess what.

They are lying that it is all diet etc. They are giving it to us in medications.

rovenstinez:" MORE OBAMACARE....would fix this, or WAIT a minute. This means PERSONAL responsibility.."

Ever hear those cars that have loud music , rattling fenders, that you can hear a quarter mile away ?
When the teenager has hearing problems in 5-7 years , because he is deaf ,
he will apply at age 28-30 yrs old for Social Security Disability because he is deaf/ hard of hearing
and they will assist in the bankrupting of Social Security because he does NOT recognize PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.
Have you ever heard of anybody getting deaf from Tommy Dorsey ?
Rite ... the times they are a changing !

The accepted standard of what constituted high blood sugar reading has been changed. Many suddenly found themselves with borderline or high readings which were the same range they usually showed in and were previous considered healthy. If a risk can be created so can higher insurance rates. I asked my doctor about mine that went borderline in the new standards and he said I was fine. My wife who was a retired CNA saw her elevated sugar level and said this was a normal range when she worked.

If our government was serious about blood sugar it would end sugar subsidies allowing cost to be more reasonable and sugar again assume it's rightful place in food & beverage processing and manufacturing rather than corn syrup.

Try and find a processed food - ANY processed food - that doesn’t have sugar in it.

For crying out loud, SALT has sugar in it.

“Let’s just say that I’m skeptical...”

Maybe the “high” thresholds are set too low. Lowering them sure creates business for the medical industry.
