Fear the Walking Dead finally premieres on Sunday, and like any spin-off, it's contending with massive amounts of fan expectation. But how many of those expectations will actually be fulfilled? Here's everything you can expect- and can't expect- from the first season of Fear the Walking Dead:
What you will see
Difficult zombie kills
The Walking Dead does a fantastic job of demonstrating the decomposition of the walkers, especially since it becomes easier and easier to kill them each season. Last season, the characters managed to kill a horde of walkers using just a fire hose.
Don't expect that kind of cakewalk to happen on Fear though, as these walkers are barely different from human beings, and it's much harder to kill a person than it looks in the movies. Showrunner Dave Erickson teased that the characters will try and fail to stab the zombies' skulls in the spin-off, because their bodies are much hardier. "The point was it's hard physically to kill somebody," Erickson told THR.

What you won't see
Characters from The Walking Dead
There have been rumors since its inception that certain characters from The Walking Dead would cross over to Fear the Walking Dead, particularly characters who have been killed off in the last six seasons but would still be alive in the prequel's timeline (anyone but Andrea or Lori, please). But unfortunately, there are no plans to directly cross over the two shows anytime soon.
"[The] idea of seeing an ancillary character who happened to be in Los Angeles and got out and landed in Georgia is interesting," said Erickson. "But I don't think we're going to do that. There's no plan to see any original characters."

Ping
Looking forward to checking it out.
Un tenderized walkers.
Please let me know if you would like on or off The Walking Dead ping list.
"Fear the Walking Dead" premiers Sunday, August 23, 2015.
I guess Fresh Walkers are more difficult to kill because their meat has not begun to decomposed unlike the TWD whose walkers look like they are ready to be put in a Nursing Walker Home.
Can’t wait!!!! Woohooooo!!!!
I watched the trailer, I hope it lives up to our expectations.
I’ll watch... I miss the Walking Dead.. this show might be a interesting replacement till new season of WD
Yep! Counting down the minutes until tomorrow night. Already told my wife (who refuses to watch TWD) that the TV is mine and I won't be disturbed!
I miss TWD as well. Just watched the whole series on Netflix for a second time these past couple of weeks.
I hope it lasts long enough to live up to our expectations. Personally, I thought TWD started out strong for the first two episodes and then got weak for a couple of seasons. Season 3 was where the series really found its stride and it's been the best show on TV ever since.
YESSSSSS! I CANT WAAIT!
I love marathons. I think my favorite season to date of TWD is the 2nd, but I love it all.
Oh, yeah! Binging on Netflix is the way to do it these days. Prior to just a few months ago, I'd never seen an episode of TWD. Netflix had the first 4 seasons and I was hooked. I powered through the series in a couple of weeks.
Unfortunately, AMC is dragging their feet giving Season 5 to Netflix. I found some site out of Thailand that was streaming it for free in HD, no subtitles and no sign-up. I was lucky enough to catch the whole season but now I can't find it anymore. All the "free streaming" sites seem to be a mess of popups, redirects and sign up requests.
That figures about the free sites, right? Why is it taking AMC so long? The new season will be here month after next!
Maybe one day we’ll have Netflix. As it is now, our internet speed is really slow, and there’s no way we could stream a movie or a TV show. Hopefully something else will be available here at some point, but for now we have the DVDs.
On my birthday! What a present!
Regarding fresh zombies/walkers: When was the last time a human TWD character turned? Merle Dixon? Unnamed prison residents during the sickness episode? Never seems to happen anymore. I suppose because the survivors are more adept at handling walkers and doing the head-kill thing.
Last night premier = LAME
Why it was okay:
1. A zombie, who used to be a drug dealer, got run over several times.
Why it sucked:
1. None of the main characters are likable. You have:
A. A heroin addict
B. His b!tch of a sister, who can’t wait to get away from her parents and who has a penchant for dark meat
C. His mother, who is a high school guidance counselor and an idiot, but then I repeat myself
D. His mother’s live in boyfriend (way to set an example for your kids) who happens to be a high school teacher
2. There is no real tension...you already know this is the start of the zombie apocalypse, not like they’re going to find a cure or anything.
3. The setting is Los Angeles. While I might enjoy watching that cesspool get slowly destroyed, it still is a pimple on the ass of the world.
4. The “authorities” are already the bad guys. Trust no one with a badge. They even had a Ferguson-like moment with a viral video of police officers emptying their guns into poor defenseless zombies.
5. There are liberal gotchas galore - the heroin addicts shoot up in an abandoned church, a mixed race couple, a nice, polite, black young man ends up being the neighborhood drug dealer...you get the picture.
I could go on and on, but it is obvious that this is NOT The Walking Dead. This is the zombie apocalypse through liberal-tinted lenses.
