Interestingly, Google Chrome told me my flash was disabled today. Then it wouldn’t let me fix it. So I reinstalled Google Chrome and now it works fine and updated itself too. Not sure what that was about, possibly a new update from Adobe Flash that wanted to come through?

I’ve been poking around doing searches about this nuisance...

Youtube doesn’t use Flash as default any more. It defaults to HTML5.

Flash should have been killed off a decade ago. No excuse for such problematic software.

HTML 5 should run native.

I went to that website and clicked on the button to use HTML5 but it did not switch anything. It just continued to say it would use the default player.... Which is Flash. Only about 3 of the formats listed said they could be used. And I am using the latest version of Firefox. I did a google search and could not even find anyone with the same issue.

This isn’t the first time. It happened about a week ago too. I still avoid firefox after the whole thing with their CEO, but I’m forced to use it for a couple of management apps at work

Depends on the Flash settings - you can tell it to not automatically check/update so it needs to be done manually. If out of date and turned on, sites will prompt you to update if you want to view content properly.

Having it off by default is only good security - if one wants it on, then one should be aware of potential risks - much better than finding out the hard way that a bad site had automatic access.

This isn’t a prompt for an update. It’s asking me if I wish to INSTALL Flash. Which I already have and it works just fine.

I found the solution to my problem. Maybe it will help you. My problem was that NoScript was blocking things on the page in addition to Flash. I temporarily allowed some items (not including Flash) and it works fine.

Flash must die ... PING!

You can find all the Windows Ping list threads with FR search: just search on keyword "windowspinglist".

Might be some malware trying to lure you to a bad site. Might want to run a full virus scan and then follow up with Malwarebytes anti-malware app.

If it is intrusive, it is likely to be something that found a niche and is now trying to get you to open the door.
