A tenured California professor is the latest academic to be accused of re-writing their personal history when claiming Cherokee heritage.

Andrea Smith, an associate professor at the University of California Riverside and a noted scholar in Native American studies, has been called out by critics who say she, like former Harvard Law professor Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D- Mass., and Ward Churchill, a former University of Colorado professor who infamously likened 9/11 victims to Nazis, used the phony claims to enhance her faculty pedigree.

I laugh every time someone says they have Native blood. It's always Cherokee or Apache. The truth is usually not on the side of the claims. For years, my family has been rumored to have ties to a french indian tribe in the Northeast. After some pretty intense research, I've been able to narrow it down to a servant in the home way back when, and she wasn't indian.

The real problem is that having indian ancestry really means something to millions of people: it confers immediate victim status and credibility, and freedom from that cursed White Guilt.

I met a military-industrial contractor who only had the job because he was a card carrying Indian. He was whiter than white, almost albino, green eyes, and bright red hair. When I expressed my astonishment he laughed and said his parents were hippies and had him on an Indian reservation. He whipped out a plastic covered paper card that identified his birth on this reservation. He’d been using that to get military subcontracts. He was in such demand to satisfy the various social clauses on military contracts that all he did was get the work, farm it out to white guys and then mark it up. The whole minority clause is a joke.

Another case of I am what I identify myself to be......

I think I'm a popcycle! All hail the cold ones!

No, wait! I am black, no wait indian , no wait Donald Trump's descendant. That is what I identify myself to be! Some who should have money.......

It has nothing to do with reality and all to do with identity.....

You laugh, and I don’t blame you ... it always seems to be leftist academics who are fakes using a supposed ancestral tie in for affirmative action preferences. Or to lend authenticity to their “victim of the nasty white man” shtick. Tribes were slaughtering and enslaving each other just like the rest of the human race long before any Caucasian set sail west. But these frauds infuriate those of us who can actually trace lineage back to a specific ancestor but wouldn’t think of trying to leverage an accident of birth.
