Jeremy Clarkson completes final lap of Top Gear test track
The Spectator ^ | 7/13/15 | Steerpike

Earlier this year Mr S reported how Jeremy Clarkson got on stage at a glitzy charity auction and told the audience that the BBC were ‘f—ing b—–ds’. Happily, during the expletive-filled rant over his Top Gear suspension he also managed to raise £100,000 for the Roundhouse arts charity by offering attendees the chance to join him for his last lap around the Top Gear test track:

‘I’ll drive somebody around in whatever I can get hold of, I’m sacked so it’s probably a Nissan Maestro. But anyway it will be my last ever lap of the Top Gear test drive. There was an 18 year waiting list to be in the audience of Top Gear, but the BBC has f—ed themselves.’

Today was that day, and the bidder did at least manage to do better than a Nissan Maestro:

However, Clarkson still struggled to raise a smile:

His grumpy demeanour may well be down to reports that his plans for a new car show to rival the BBC’s Top Gear have hit an obstacle. It’s thought that Clarkson – along with his former co-stars James May and Richard Hammond – may be banned from making a rival show for two years under the terms of their BBC contracts. However, before the new Top Gear host Chris Evans breathes a sigh of relief, it’s worth noting that Clarkson may be able to escape this restriction by making the show in America. After all, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

I always enjoyed Top Gear...even if the show continues, it won't be the same.

Yes, true. I truly did enjoy their love of Britain's manufacturing base, too. The one show, where they ended with all the vehicles (from lawn tractors to F-1 cars, and everything else in between) brought a tear of pride to my eyes, and I've never been there. Their love of country and big "stick it" to the naysayers was great on that one.

I don’t see it happening. We’re a lot more restrictive about what they could get away with on the roads.

He had BBC power behind him there and they don’t carry the same weight here.

Come to America, Jezzer! Bring Hammond and Captain Slow, too! Come drive The Going To The Sun Highway in Montana. Has to be in the summertime.

I get the feeling that Clarkson would rather poke his eye out with a red hot poker and kiss Piers Morgan on the lips than relocate to the Colonies.

That was a good show.
A little national pride never hurts.

I always enjoyed their ‘round the world specials. Especially the way they would leave the straggler, ever in fear of whatever backup car the producers had for them.

I wonder if Richard Hammond has “Oliver” stashed away someplace?

Hoping the 3 Amigo’s show up elsewhere soon.

FWIW, I read a rumor that BBC tried to get Sabine Schmitz do the new show.
I don’t think she took it.
Wouldn’t be right having a German (not even Sabine) doing TG.

If Fox had half a brain they would fire Whorealdo and hire Clarkson.
Jeremy is funny and sees how PC and the Left are destroying the West.

They are still on?

I gave up on one of the first episodes about 5 minutes in. Depressing.

I liked the Aussie TG guys almost as much as Clarkson and Co. and would take them over the three lamebrains.

He doesn’t have to move there, thanks to the miracle of powered flight he can shoot the episodes and then fly back to Britain. He’s done it many times before.

Outstanding! That, in of itself, justifies the annual fee for Prime!
