The fact that so little trust exists should tell people something about lesser evil voting.

His whole goal is to get on the debate stage and be up there spouting his views before millions of people. Is that what we want? He'll take valuable time away from real candidates IMO.

I have a certain respect for candidates who have no change of winning but who have a real message that they think needs to get out. Ross Perot had been thumping on a balanced budget amendment for decades and decided that running for President would be the best way to get the point out. The same with Ron Paul with libertarianism, Bernie Sanders with Euro-style socialism, Pat Buchanan withe paleoconservatism, Ralph Nader with environmentalism, etc. They had no chance of winning, but whether you liked their messages or not, they seemed to be motivated by issues and ideas rather than (purely) personal egos and vanity.

In contrast, where has Trump been for the past decades on immigration? Why are we just now hearing about it or about trade? The reason is that he doesn't care about these issues any more than he cared for the more liberal issues he wanted to run on in 2000. His participation isn't about any real political agenda or ideology, it's just about Trump.

"if the time is valuable, one has to wonder why NONE of the GOP candidates is using it in anyway at all."

Well, they are out there talking, but truly the press is more interested in reporting on Trump and the next thing he says. They are out campaigning at their target audience and right now, that is the Iowa and New Hampshire voters. Quite frankly, if our candidates are falling down, the points stand concerning what I said about Trump. One has nothing to do with the other. At the end of the day, Trump is all about Trump.

ding! ding! ding! We have a winner!! As you mentioned in your posts, those candidates had been in the spotlight for years concerning the issues they felt needed to be heard. Where's Trump been? Running his hotels and saying you're fired. There's nothing wrong with that, but the point is he hasn't been fighting this immigration issue or other conservative causes.

I was thinking the same thing except I believe the term I thought of was:

The Republicans/conservatives are being punked.

Trump and the Clintons are hooked together at the hip. Trump is playing this game...hook all these crazy conservatives into his campaign...then drop them like live bait into the shark tank for Hillary.

Trump= Trap

Trump may well be all about Trump. He is an egomaniac to be sure.

Let me state up front that I do not trust Trump, and I support Ted Cruz.

That being said, Ted Cruz has not caught fire, and I think he has hurt himself by basically being out of touch with those that support him on certain issues, such as TPA and legal immigration.

It is very clear to anyone watching this what “on fire” looks like. None of the other GOP candidates are on fire or even warm.

If they are out campaigning with their target audiences, then they are wasting their time, they are non-factors, and they will lose.

If a candidate cannot capture the attention of the country, then a candidate is going to lose to the democrats big time.

The only thing the GOP has going for it is a bunch of really angry voters that have no trust in them whatsoever.

We’ll see what becomes of Trump in the future, but he is teach a crystal clear lesson, you want to catch fire, you talk about things that really matter, otherwise you are a dud.

This.

...the only one that makes sense.

If Trump leaves the race, Cruz is the guy he will endorse and throw his support to him.

Bravo, you got it. He’s not a stalking horse, he’s beating the bushes(pun intended).
He’s bringing an issue to America’s kitchen tables that only one candidate has answered the right way. Cruz.
He is skewering 30 years worth of liberal creep on immigration.
I don’t think he wants the WH. He wants to run his business. He wants a candidate who is pro-business, not pro wall street, or pro chamber. Ted Cruz

The GOP will send monkeys to this very thread to attempt to put his ideas down.

And from the few threads I've read, they are scampering all over the place, trying their best - but fooling no one.

Trump is preparing the ground for a successful Cruz candidacy.

He’s a stalking horse, he just doesn’t know it yet.

Perhaps that is the one redeeming thing about Trump. He can teach others how to get attention. He's a master of it to be sure.
