Roosevelt as a Proto-Fascist, 1933 (Indictment by a Far-Left Organization) and The Audacity of Hope

This is something I found interesting, if not unfounded. It is just that the title of this far-left pamphlet had the word "audacity" written three times and it reminded me of the president's book, The Audacity of Hope. That is all. Resume your life.

In the pamphlet collection here there are hundreds if not thousands of odd publications printed int eh 1850-1945 period that have little bits and pieces of design elements--apart from their content--that make them irresistible.

KEYWORDS:
The election of FDR in 1932 seems to have sunk their boat, though in reading this pamphlet a little Roosevelt really wasn't liberal enough for them--he did though attract a lot of their membership to the Democratic Party, and LIPA in short order shrank and drowned.

In fact, according to the pamphlet in which this logo was found, Roosevelt was more "a threat than a promise" to American life. And, then this: that the New Deal "if carried to its logical conclusion...will introduce Fascism into the United States". One part of this was the continued entitlements of the upper classes, "withholding the people from the blessing of security, leisure, and high living standards".

And: "In truth, what President Roosevelt has been doing in Washington...will [transform the old, individualistic laissez-faire] capitalism of yesterday into the controlled capitalism of Mussolini and Hitler".

I've seen these attacks on FDR before, but think not this early, not in the first year of his presidency.

I guess--given to the limited space given to this post--that it would be mostly fair to say that LIPA was a Socialist organization, at least, and the politics of the Roosevelt administration was not nearly Socialistic for them. There's much more in this pamphlet, but it will have to wait for another time.

Interesting collection. Thanks for the heads-up.

Yes, there's very little original or novel about Captain Zero. Like Roosevelt, he's too much the Dewey Progressive to be completely loyal to the International communards. Like the Clintons, he wants to live large, and that requires service to the American Banking classes, bought and paid for.

Mrs. Clinton is even more sold out, and just as corrupt and low-brow. She really believes its her "turn," and the rest of us are "eaters."

Let’s see - Hitler marches across Europe without Roosevelt lifting a finger to stop him, until he invades what country?

Oh yea, Russia.

And the ‘new deal’ takes after what concept of government? It ends in ‘ism’ but it sure as heck ain’t fascism.

Audacity:1. The willingness to take bold risks.
2. rude or disrespectful behavior; impudence,
insolence.

FDR loved Hitlers form of socialism, in a paper on mises.org the writer covers the difference between communist/socialism and fascist/socialism.

The paper is very interesting, I have posted here on FR several times.

“Let’s see - Hitler marches across Europe without Roosevelt lifting a finger to stop him, until he invades what country?

Roosevelt declared war on Germany after Germany declared war on the USA.

Russia hadn’t been invaded yet.

Thanks for the link. I was so disappointed after the 2008 election (not that McCain would have been much better) that I missed a lot here (and elsewhere) at that time. There are indeed eerie similarities between the National Socialist hyper-regulated State — command economy with private *ownership* of the means of the production — and the current situation, especially when small business owners run into trouble when they don’t do what is politically correct and they are written up for violating some arbitrary administrative regulation or some judge-concocted fantasy of what their customers’ *Constitutional* rights must include.

You’ll really need to fix either those darn history books as they (and my late father) seem to state that:

Japan bombs Perl Harbor - December 7, 1941
US declares war on Japan - December 8, 1941
Germany declares war on US - December 11, 1941

But those darn history books keep insisting that Germany invaded Russia on June 22, 1941.
