The filthy bacterial infection in the white house and DC has effected my mood in a profoundly negative way.

That may be because nutrition is being absorbed properly. An imbalanced digestive
system is the cause of most old age woes. I eat plain ole fermented bean curd.
Sounds yummy doesn't it?
We all know the craving for certain foods we get, that's because once we've had
those foods our body is telling us there's something in there we're lacking.
If your digestive system is working properly the craving for certain foods
diminishes because you're receiving what you need.
Plenty of extreme examples with pregnant women on craving.

This explains why I sometimes hear voices commanding me to kill, maim, and eat more chocolate.

How come I always get a craving for ice cream or chocolate after eating lots of meat?

Micro-organisms in our gut secrete a profound number of chemicalsI've never liked the NYT's politics, but they used to be able to use words correctly.
1. Having, showing, or requiring great insight or understanding: a profound thinker; a profound analysis.
2. Deeply felt or held; intense: profound contempt; a profound conviction.
3. Thoroughgoing; far-reaching: profound social changes.
4. Unqualified or unbroken: a profound silence; profound sleep.
5. Situated at, extending to, or coming from a great depth; deep: a profound chasm.

Toxoplasmosis seems to cause some profound personality changes.

That's a proper use of the word.

The digestive tube of a monkey, like that of all vertebrates, contains vast quantities of what biologists call gut microbiota.Never seen the digestive system described as a tube before.

Can the Bacteria in Your Gut Explain Your Mood? No, but the gases they produce seem to effect the mood of everyone near me.

You just think they’re not doing your thinking for you.
But then, that’s what they’d want you to think.

I believe that the consumption of feces has in impact on your mood. It makes you feel fabulous! From whence comes the expression, 'A $hit-eating grin'...

One can get various strengths and types of pro-biotic bacteria from health food stores — in capsule form.
“Gut bacteria” is supposed to increase immunity and overall health.

Well this explains the origin of the ancient expression often used when confronting a disagreeable or irrational person:
“You’re Full of S#@$!”
