Some day this silly pendulum will swing back. Heartbreaking to see people and companies trample on the free speech rights of so many others.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets new sponsor in Microsoft

Microsoft will sponsor Dale Earnhardt Jr. for two upcoming races this season, including Sunday's road-course race at Sonoma Raceway, as part of a technology partnership with Hendrick Motorsports.

Both NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsports will adopt the Windows 10 platform and Microsoft Azure to deliver technology solutions to help improve performance on and off the track.

“NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsports are perpetual innovators in motorsports,” Steve Guggenheimer, a Microsoft vice president, said in a news release. “This sport demands constant innovation, to have its boundaries pushed, so that the sport delivers the exciting experiences expected by fans."

NASCAR's 12-time most popular driver will also don the Microsoft colors for the Aug. 2 race at Pocono.

“I’m a big technology user and really enjoy Microsoft products,” Earnhardt said in a release. “Kicking off the Hendrick Motorsports relationship with Windows 10 is a unique opportunity, and there’s no doubt our ongoing technical partnership will help us raise the bar in many areas. It’s great to see Microsoft is having such a positive experience with NASCAR and wants to do more across the sport. We’re excited to be a part of that.”

Congrats - Kasey Kahne: In October, #5-Kasey Kahne will achieve a lifelong dream: fatherhood. Kahne's girlfriend, Sam Sheets, is due to deliver a baby boy on Oct. 10. "I've always really wanted a kid. Absolutely," Kahne said via speakerphone while dragging a sprint car-loaded trailer up the interstate toward Indianapolis. "When I was growing up, I thought I'd have kids by the time I was 25. We're 10 years past that now, of course. But once we found out, I realized how badly I wanted kids. It's something that's been on my mind for a long time. I'm really excited to have this type of life-changing experience, and I can't wait to be the best dad I can possibly be."(ESPN)(6-24-2015)

Gotta go for now, be back later to update more News.

Stewart-Haas working on new sponsor/contract for Patrick: Facing two hurdles to navigate with Danica Patrick's #10 Chevy - finding a new primary sponsor and extending the driver's contract - Stewart-Haas Racing is optimistic about completing both concurrently. "It's a huge focus of ours on a daily basis," SHR executive vice president Brett Frood told NBC Sports in a Wednesday interview. "We have a team working on it. From a timing standpoint, we'd like to have something done by the end of the summer in unison with her and a partner and feel confident we'll be able to get that done." GoDaddy announced in April that it would end its longtime sponsorship of Patrick's cars after the 2015 season (likely remaining in a personal services deal with the driver). Patrick, who is in her third full-time season of Sprint Cup, also is in the final year of her deal at SHR, which she joined in 2012 in moving full time from IndyCar to NASCAR. Frood said SHR had been "engaged in several conversations" with prospective sponsors. "We feel very good where we are on that diligence and on that targeting," he said. It's unlikely, though, that either deal would be done independently. NASCAR contracts with drivers and sponsors tend to coincide in terms of at least three years. During a news conference last month, Patrick said her agent and advisers were working with the SHR marketing department to align with a new brand.(NBC Sports)(6-25-2015)

Crew Member Suspended Due To Violation of NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy: Ernest Pierce, a crew member in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR for violating the sanctioning body's Substance Abuse Policy. On June 17, 2015, Pierce was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy) of the 2015 NASCAR Rule Book.(NASCAR)(6-23-2015)
UPDATE: NASCAR has indefinitely suspended Joe Gibbs Racing development pit-crew member Ernest Pierce for violation of its substance-abuse policy. To be reinstated, Pierce must complete NASCAR's "Road to Recovery" process, which requires an assessment by a substance-abuse professional who will then determine the appropriate rehabilitation program and guidelines for Pierce's return. NASCAR announced Pierce's suspension Tuesday afternoon, saying it confirmed the violation (typically a failed drug test) last Wednesday. A JGR spokesman said any discipline issued by JGR would be an internal personnel matter.(ESPN)(6-24-2015)

Lug Nut or Valve Stem Issue?: Flat tires caused when valve stems have been knocked off by lug nuts during pit stops have been a recurring issue for teams this season. The #19 of Joe Gibbs Racing driver Carl Edwards, the #27 of Paul Menard (Richard Childress Racing) and more recently, the #4 of Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) are among those that have been affected by the problem. According to some in the garage, the problem isn't that the lug nuts occasionally strike the stem during a tire change. Instead, it's how the stem is seated in the wheel that makes it easier to be knocked off. "I don't even know how to fix it," Rodney Childers, crew chief for Harvick, said after Sunday's race at Michigan International Speedway. "Definitely got to do something though."(NASCAR.com)(6-19-2015)

Well Rodney, if Your Operator at SHR passed on the message when I called last week I gave Y'all the "Fix"

Kurt Busch to be inducted into Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame: #41-Kurt Busch will be inducted into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame on Friday at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas while being surrounded by family and friends in the city where he grew up. The ceremony comes five days after the Durango High School graduate won his second race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season, claiming the rain-shortened event Sunday at Michigan International Speedway. "This year has been so rewarding," said Busch, who is driving the #41 Chevy for Stewart-Haas Racing. "I've been executing well with my race preparation and forecasting well what's going to happen during the race." Busch will be joined by boxer Mike Tyson, former NFL quarterback Glenn Carano, golf pro Joe Kelly and rodeo coach Ric Griffith as members of the Class of 2015. Busch has won 27 times in NASCAR's elite division and ranks No. 26 on the all-time victory list. Two spots ahead of him is his younger brother Kyle, who has 29 victories.(Las Vegas Review Journal)(6-18-2015)

Earnhardt welcomes leadership role: As a member of NASCAR's newly formed drivers' council, #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. has had the ears of the fans, drivers and NASCAR in the past four weeks. And now that he's more comfortable than ever about giving his views on the sport, Earnhardt appears to relish his place on the council, which met with NASCAR executives for the first time May 30. At a promotional appearance on a hot midweek afternoon a couple of weeks ago for Amp energy drinks, one of his sponsors, Earnhardt acknowledged that he's more opinionated now than he was when he started racing. "All the drivers have very strong opinions, and we all feel like we have a handful of answers of things that we could change to make this sport better," Earnhardt said before going onstage. "I don't know that my ideas are better than anyone else's. We all sort of get together and talk it over."
Being elected as an inaugural member of the council shows that Earnhardt could fill the role that his father once played in the garage as the person who can walk into the NASCAR hauler and truly have the ear -- and respect -- of NASCAR brass. Jeff Gordon somewhat assumed that role in the 2000s. Earnhardt isn't necessarily ready to fill that role when Gordon retires after this season, nor does Earnhardt feel that one driver should have that role. The council membership is designed to change year to year; it includes the top driver from each manufacturer, some past champions, the top rookie and other members selected to represent a cross section of the standings. "You take a little pride in that your peers respect you," Earnhardt said about his selection to the council. "I think we all share that respect for each other and won't be on the council every year. The way the voting is with the points and everything and the way the guys are kind of chosen and locked in, it will change every year, which is going to be good because it will get fresh guys in there with new ideas."
"There's a lot of guys that are not on the council that probably belong on the council," Earnhardt said. "There's more drivers, certainly, qualified, deserving and smart. There's a lot of guys with a lot of amazing ideas that should be in that room. But NASCAR thought it would be good to sort of keep it down to a small number so the conversations are reasonable." Earnhardt isn't sure what impact the council will have this year. He believes this group is laying the foundation. "It won't really bear fruit right off the bat," Earnhardt said. "It will take a few meetings. Let's get down the road several months so we can understand how to talk to each other and how to work together. Then this next crop of guys, whoever comes in the council next year, will be more productive then."(see full article at ESPN.com)(6-23-2015)

Bowyer Raises More Than $350,000 For His Hometown: Before heading to Sonoma, #15-Clint Bowyer hosted the eighth annual Clint Bowyer's Support Emporia Charity Event on Saturday, June. 20 in his home town of Emporia, Kan. More than 450 people attended the golf tournament and auction where a record $360,000 was raised. It was the sixth consecutive year the event has raised more than $350,000. The dinner and auction included several one-of-a-kind items from several NASCAR stars, the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. The highlight of the auction was a VIP experience with Cessna to the Daytona 500. The evening concluded with a concert by country music entertainer Chris Weaver. Money raised from the event goes to the "79 Fund," a fund established by Bowyer for the Emporia Community Foundation. To date, Bowyer has helped raise more than $2.5 million for the fund. In addition to constructing the Clint Bowyer Community Building, a multi-purpose community center, gifts have been awarded to various youth-related initiatives including outfitting children with school backpacks as well as shoes for the needy at Christmas.(MWR)(6-24-2015)

NASCAR needs to move to the north. It isn’t welcome in the South since it thinks all things Southern are somehow racist.
