It may well be a shameless attempt to generate column inches, but one U.K. bookmaker has, out of the blue, slashed its odds of Homeland star Damian Lewis being named the next James Bond.

Noooooooo.
Not Bruce Jenner?
Not Pee Wee Herman or Pajama Boy?
What happened to Daniel Craig? I’m not a big Bond fan anymore but I did think he was the best since Connery.
Is he British? I thought he did a good job of playing Richard Winters in Band of Brothers.
He IS British. I was about knocked over the first time I heard him talking with the accent. He did an amazing job as Dick Winters and was excellent in Homeland as well. I don’t know that I would be able to see him as Bond, though.
They’ve been running through new Bonds like hot cakes. Obviously, their clueless to the character.
“I did think he was the best since Connery.”
Absolutely correct IMO.
Damian Lewis?......geeez. Ian Fleming and Albert R. Broccoli are rolling over in their graves.
He was good in Band of Brothers, James Bond 007 however........
He looks exactly like Ian Fleming!
Like the first time I heard Andrew Lincoln speak in his real accent. (I never saw Love Actually or anything else he had been in, apparently).
I like Damian Lewis as an actor, but I cannot see him as 007. Just can’t. I agree with some on here that Daniel Craig was the best Bond since Connery.
Naw, Caitlyn will be the new Bond Girl with lots of scantily clad hot and heavy love scenes.
Too old already. IMHO Daniel Craig seems lost in the Bond movies he’s done — a lunkhead overwhelmed by superhero CGI. The Bond franchise missed a great opportunity 20 years ago, when they should have coaxed Daniel Day Lewis into the role.
Well, he certainly was an amazing Henry the 8th in Wolf Hall. What an actor!
He does not look tough enough.
He's getting to be too old and tired-looking to play Bond. Those films really age their stars. After 4 films, the star begins to show his age.
I like Damian Lewis as an actor. Enjoyed him the short-lived series Life in addition to Band of Brothers, et al. However, I cannot see him as Bond. Actually, it's probably time to retire the character. There's really nowhere else to go. I think the only thing that would interest me is a retro Bond set in the 50's during the Cold War when people still smoked and drank with aplomb.
He has a laid back cool in Band of Brothers, but will he have the cold bloodedness, and charm, required of a 007 with a licence to kill? Sean Connery spoiled us.
