This is the time of year to eat buckets of steamed clams, drenched in butter and washed down with pilsner beer.

Also, corn on the cob.

I get the impression Branson is like this during their peak season. The best time to go to Branson is early April when the acts are fresh and tourists are just starting to come in.

I don’t know how old you are, but summer on the Jersey shore in the late 60’s through the 70’s - the place Springsteen sings about in his early records - is something I truly wish I could go back in time and experience. As a late Gen Xer, I’m afraid that is one slice of Americana that peaked just before I was born and then died a slow death at the hands of cynicism and caricature.

I “did” the Jersey shore in the 60’s and 70’s. Trust me, it wasn’t that special (other than the time we saw the Four Seasons at Steel Pier). It was more family friendly, though. Gambling took everything downhill in a hurry.
