Houston No. 1 in US in armored car, bank takeover robberies

HOUSTON (AP) - Larry Gonzales was emerging from his Garda Cash Logistics armored truck to refill an ATM at a Houston-area Chase Bank in October 2013 when a man behind him demanded money.

"People joke around with us," said Gonzales. "I didn't think this dude was actually serious. Next thing, I get shot in the back. Then I knew this was for real." The 28-year-old was shot six times and, despite multiple surgeries, still has a "lucky" bullet lodged in his chest.

Gonzales' case is not unique. Federal statistics indicate Texas' largest city has become a hub for bank and armored-truck hold-ups, but authorities are puzzled as to why.

"Clearly that is an issue that concerns us," says Carlos Barron, assistant special agent in charge of the Houston FBI office who oversees the local bureau's Violent Crimes Task Force.

...but authorities are puzzled as to why.

Tens of thousands from NOLA might be a place to start.

As Governor Abbott expands gun rights in Texas, occurrences such as this will dwindle. With more armed good guys, the bad guys will flee to easier pickings in liberal states where guns are outlawed.

The article describes the shooting of an armed guard. Usually, these guys have their guns in their hands, but he was shot anyway.

I can’t speak for the armored cars but I suspect the reason for takeover robberies at Houston banks is to get control of the situation, as anyone there can be packing. Still, it does make the job of the bad guys tougher, not knowing who’s armed and who’s not...unlike California and the Northeast.

Ben Affleck:”that’s racist.”

It is really white folks in Boston who are doing all the bank robberies.

Fredrika Whitfield from CNN called the Dallas shooter courageous and brave.what in the name of all that is holy?

That was when she thought the guy was black. In that case, Whitfield surely did perceive his actions as “brave” for fighting the rule of law. Once it came out that the creep was white, it’s certain she changed her mindset. Note that Whitfield went to Howard University. That one point alone speaks volumes about her.

I didn’t know that about Howard University. She’s disgusting and should apologize or be fired. I wonder if Obama is going to crush on right-wing extremists now.

Howard University may be worse even than Harvard in terms of its anti-American communist indoctrination. Race-baiter Elijah Cummings as well as leftists Andrew Young and Thurgood Marshall are among the rogue’s gallery of its alumni.

They’d have to pay me 250k per year to deliver bags of money.
Near the border? 300k.
