UKRAINE Japanese PM says in Kyiv his country supports Ukraine's sovereignty

Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe, who on Saturday was on the first visit to Ukraine in the history of the bilateral relations, stresses that his country strongly disapproves of a military resolution to the Donbas conflict and supports Ukraine's sovereignty.

The Japanese premier announced this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on Saturday, an UNIAN correspondent reported.

"Prior to discussions at the Group of Seven summit, we have devoted much time to the exchange of opinions about this issue. I have once again explained our consistent position, which includes a resolute non-recognition of the use-of-force scenario, as well as respect for the rule of law, sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Japanese head of government said.

He said he regretted that the ceasefire in eastern Ukraine was violated, and hostilities happened occasionally.

Shinzō Abe also stressed that all parties to the conflict – Russia and Ukraine – should consistently adhere to the Donbas peace agreements.

The Japanese badly defeated Russia in 1905.

“The Russo-Japanese War of 1904-05 was fought between the Empire of Russia, an international power with one of the largest armies in the world, and the Empire of Japan, a nation which had only recently industrialized after two-and-a-half centuries of isolation.”

We did not have to nuke the Nazis. We had to nuke Japan.

They took on Russia at one point (early 1900s) and won. They beat the #### out of China several times.

In fact, just about the only nation to ever beat them is the U.S.

Messing with them is a BAD idea.

/Not saying their actions were moral or justified, just stating facts.

Japan has got similar problems with the Chicoms as the Ukrainians and Georgians do with the Russians. So they are all in supporing them on the sovereignty and rule of law issues. If Russia creates a new normal where it’s creeping invasion of Ukraine is acceptable, China could easily do the same to Japan.

This isn’t the Japan of 1905 anymore. They wouldn’t bother actually invading Asia at all nowadays given that it would not be hard for China or Russia to nuke them with weapons that make the bombs used on Hiroshima and Nagaski look like party poppers in comparison. Hundreds of kilotons or multiple megatons is what China or Russia has ready to use as nuclear weapons. What we used on Japan was way smaller at only 15-20 kilotons.

Yeah, but you do realize that unless Japan has hidden lasers, China’s ballistic missiles could deliver nukes equal to tens to hundreds of Hiroshima or Nagasaki bombs, all in just one warhead. Unless Japan is totally suicidal, they will not invade China or Russia.

I doubt that anyone thinks that Japan wants to attacks Russia or China.

They will have a tough enough time protecting themselves from China, and I do like that Japan spoke out against this Russian invasion.

LOL. Of course Japan has tech against Chinese missiles.

And anyone who thinks they don’t have nukes is a fool.

That said, they have no interest in invading anyone. But crossing them in a serious way is a BAD idea.

JMHO, of course...
