A young man worked for me in the 90’s that served on the USS Carl Vinson. I’m sure he would love this story.

I would feel pretty important if the USS Carl Vinson came to my rescue.
Actually, before the H-60 series, the Navy used the SH-3 Sea King primarily for ASW and SAR (e.g., plane guard). For personnel & cargo transport, the Navy used the CH-46 Sea Knight. The Marines have replaced their MH-46s with the MV-22 Osprey.

Yup. Towing a small boat at 40 knots behind a CVN will insure it doesn’t make it home.
