FIFA is expected to vote on whether to expel Israel and whether to reelect Sepp Blatter President.

The Presidential vote will be at 10am ET. Vote on expelling Israel if it happens will come before that.

Yes, and that's the problem

Unsurprisingly, FIFA appears to be a UN in miniature.

At least, other than Nike bribing them, the US funds less of their operations.

So Israel is getting kicked out of soccer by a German?

Corruption seems to be part of the game in international sports.

Yes, the IOC is another mini-UN.

I think the common factor is “international”, rather than “sports”.

True. Notice we don’t seem to have nearly as much corruption in USA/Canada relationships.

And fewer anti-Israel proclamations too.

Wink, wink...nod and another wink.

Israel should be expelled because they can’t win a Gold Medal. Yeah, that’s it, they can’t win so get rid of them. It has nothing to do with Hamas/Palestine/Hezbollah/ISIS/Q’ran.

Is that the reason?

PA has been a member of FIFA since 1998. I believe as a member they alone can force a vote on Israel’s expulsion if they want to.

Netanyahu wrote this today on Facebook:

“It is important to understand, the Palestinian move to boycott Israel in the soccer arena is not because of something we did or didn’t do,” writes Netanyahu. “This motion stems from the opposition to our right to our own state.”

FIFA’s problem started when Sepp Blatter realized that there was more Third World votes than those from the civilized world when he first ran for FIFA president. Before Blatter Europe and the big boys in South America ran the organization. The World Cup rotated between Europe and South America, where the host country actually had a good team. Blatter promised the Third World they could have their way with the game as long as they made him president.

What is FIFA and what's this corruption scandal all about?

Look at the number of workers killed so far in building the facilities for the 2022 World Cup. Located near the bottom of the story.
